So I have made several lists. 1k, 1.5k and 2k. However I'm having trouble getting the swarmlord into anything smaller than 2k. I like running DS nids, so I like buffs to my reserve rolls and have thus included a tyrant with Hive commander. For 1k and 1.5k a 3+ is fine, but for 2k I think the 2+ is necessary. I should also include that in our local meta it's not common to see the units he would excel against (nob bikers, thunderwolf cavalry etc), so including him just for the reserves seems a slight waste of points. Any thoughts or opinions?

I don't use him in anything less than 1500, but screen him with some gaunts and he's ready to play all day long. One thing to keep in mind, using him vs. the Hive Commander is that they both give you +1 to reserve. Hive Com lets you outflank a troop unit and Swarmlord lets you reroll outflank side checks.

If you're using a lot of outflanks, Swarmlord is well worth the bump in cost (and don't forget he's got an additional wound in that enhanced stat bar).

Tombworld El'Lahaun 2500pts
Hive Fleet Vestis 5000pts
Disciples of Caliban 2000pts
Crimson Fist 2000pts
World Eaters 1850pts
Angels Encarmine 1850pts
Iron Hospitalers 1850 pts (Black Templar Successor)
Sons of Medusa 1850pts
Tartarus IXth Renegade Legion 2500pts

Gaunts can screen a HT? My opponents have never let me take a cover save for a monstrous creature through a gaunt screen.

Dont TMCs have to be obscured just like a tank?

Gaunt screen being back would be awesome

Gwar: I'm going to quit while I can.

Meh, close enough

Sorry, I'm so used to throwing Hive Guard with my Tyrants that I forgot to mention it.

Tyrant + Guard screened by gaunts equals cover save. Or you can just keep them around or near the Venomthropes, those guys are awesome.

I suppose it depends on how and what you want to outflank. My co-host is all about the idea of taking Tyrants (yes that is plural) so that he can outflank two Tervigons. I think if you are going to use a heavy Stealer list, it may be worth taking the Broodlord in anything as low as 1500 in order to ensure you get them on the side you want.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

It is not really about the points (although the more the better), it is how he fits in to your army.

His name gives you a clue to how he works, because he makes a little big swarm better.

500. LOL.

He is 280 leaving 220 for Termagaunts.

Or take 2 broods of 14 Horms with Sacs/Glands.

It's a legal army and good lucky with anything beating that list.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?
