hi im new to 40k and im making a space wolves army as i like assaulting as im converting mostly from a space marine force. id like a feel of both armies so im trying to make an aggresive space wolves army. although i dont have much to work with

my list is:

rune priest
7 x wolf guard
- 5 in a squad, all with combi weapons, 1 powerfist, MOTW
- 2 leading each GH unit, combi weapons, 1 powerfist each
in a pod

9 x GH with melta gun , standard , MOTW in rhino
9 x GH with melta gun, standard , MOTW in rhino

Lanspeeder /w MM, HF

6 Long fangs - 3 ML, 2 Power Weapons

so what do you guys think?

oh woopssy sorry my mistake. ill change them the longfangs to 5 missile launchers then. Do i need power weapon for the squad leader?

Pluus what do you think about the rest of the army?

No,you don't need.

You would never want to throw them into charge.

And the guards could do well in combat, but they cannot charge at the turn when the pod landed. Then they will suffer heavy loss.

ic.. so what should i put in the pod that can charge out the turn it lands?

Do i need the MOTW on grey hunters? they seem more like a range unit

Ok. So first off, not a bad list. You have good mobility. You need mobility to survive these days. It's very risky having only 1 drop pod. You can't assault after you drop so you have to survive a turn of shooting before you can do anything. That can take its toll easily. I might throw a GH squad in there so you don't have to lose such a high point squad if things go badly.

GH are old style space marines. Bolter, Bolt Pistol, Chainsword, grenades. That means they can do anything you want them to do. Give them a plasma gun and they can sit on an objective and shoot out to 24". Give them a melta and they can charge in and hit a tank and then charge.

In the list you have they will be the ones doing most of the work most of the time. By which I mean that they will be needed to take objectives. Unlike regular marines you don't get combat squads. That means you can take up to 2 objectives. Sit one squad back with the long fangs to hold one. The other grey hunters and the wolf guard/rune priest move to take the other. With the wolf guard doing the assault and the GH the clean up.

MOTW is fine with the GH. Just don't stick it on someone with a special weapon for CC as they can't use it with the mark, they just get teeth and hands and such with the mark. You have avoided that problem, so you should be fine. It looks like a fairly solid list with hitters and protectors.

since i cant charge out of the pod.
i was thinking of putting the rune priest and wolf guard in the rhino or a razorback when i can get one. and put the GH squad in the pod.

Also another thing, whats the difference if i have a wolf guard to lead the GH instead of having 10 GH? is it jsut the stats?

10 GH means a free second special weapon. Wolf Guard means better stats and more gear options.
