Does a scoring unit need to be in coherency to count as scoring?

Example was my opponent had a unit spread out to control two points. If I shot at them and he removed casualties from the middle of his unit would they still count as controlling the two points if the game ended that turn? Our third party friend was on the side that they would still count as scoring. Only because if the game went on another turn they would be forced back into coherency.

On a similar note does a unit falling back also still count as scoring (even if they had no chance to regroup)?

Yes, you are only forced back into coherency on your turn.

Falling back units are removed before you determine scoring, that one is very clearly in the rules!
