A bit of cheeky crossposting here, but just in case anyone from this forum missed it in the modelling and painting blog section, I've completed painting my 1750 point Irish Guard Hell's Highway force now.

You own the site. I don't think we can have you mod-slapped for cross-posting...

Nifty looking army! Are the buildings just for style or intended as objectives, as I see some FoW tournaments require these?

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Mainly style - I hope to someday make an objective but it is very low priority so they are a decent substitute until then. They are just off-the-shelf buildings anyway.

They look great. I love the Typhoons(?), how did you keep those invasion stripes so neat?

Also, what's the source for those buildings.

Thanks. First I tried using masking tape on the typhoons but that was not too effective and left odd texture or stripped paint. Then I just measured out the distances and put dots at measurement points, then painted to the dots leading to fairly straight, even lines. They are not perfect but they are about as even as the real life hand painted ones which is pleasing.

The buildings are Landmark and are available (in the UK at least) from here:

Well the real ones were pretty much perfect...

Granted its not a Typhoon but a Tempest, but you get my point!

This is a Typhoon with the 1943 pattern invasion stripes... Far thinner than the 1944 pattern...

There are decal sets for invasion stripes available, but may not be suitable for 15mm. I tend to use a ruler and a pencil to draw in lines and use that as a guide. You can then erase the pencil line when finished.

Nice work though... Good looking army. I notice you only have a carrier platoon in support of the armour. Im not familiar with FOW and how it works, but Im just wondering why you didnt opt for the use of M5 Halftracks for the infantry?

The carrier platoon was used to make the army feel more British. Shermans and M10s (even with 17pdrs) made it look very similar to a US force, so the daimlers and carriers were put in to keep a bit of British flavour with the armour.

Nice way to theme it. It certainly gives it the 'British' look alright.

Im just adding a Sherman Regiment to my 20mm Brits... I already have one of Cromwells but having Shermans gives me more options historically to refight different angagements. Luckily in 20mm they can be made to look British with the addition of the rear turret stowage box and other bits of clutter.

The 15mm FoW ones have the rear turret stowage as well, but I only used it on one as the quality of the stowage box casting is quite poor and I didnt like the look of it too much. I also left it off the fireflies as that looks very unbalanced on the 15mm models as well.
