Ok so I'm considering going back over my Empire Soldiers and giving them some TLC. Other than some Knights and Free Company i haven't painted anything new in over 4 years. The key units I'm wanting to address are my Swordsmen and Spearmen. My current color scheme is Blue and Orange. Any garments poking out of armor are white. I have some yellow ribbons, feathers, and sashes, but I'm going to change that to white (I feel like I killed Big Bird). On my newer knights I emphasized blue and I'm really trying to minimize the Orange (looks they just got out of County Jail). The bases are also trimmed Green, but I think I'm going to go back over that with Dark Flesh. Seriously who ever came up with the Green base edging technique back in the day (probably the same guy responsible for GWs "Red" Period).
The Swordsmen have a Quartered scheme that looks ok, but i'm wondering about the shields (shield with Eagle add-on). The shield is orange and the add-on Eagle is Blue with a White head. I would like some suggestions on where I should go with these two seperate pieces.
The Spearmen have a Halved Scheme (Orange on one side, blue on the other). Their shields are the old round ones with the Lion on them (from the 6th Ed box set). The shields are Blue with the Lion picked out in Orange. Again some suggestions would be great. What I'm considering is just painting the entire shield either silver or brass/gold.
Other than that I think I'm ok. It's just simple stuff like putting Badab black on my Reiksguard knights to dull their Mithril armor, touching up faces, and repairing scraped paint.
