My friend is now starting tyranid army.

I want to make army list for him. Codex is here.
He bought
*Battle Force
*Warrior Box
*Hive guard *2
*Trygon/Mawloc

From these I made this rough list.

For 1000pts

HQ

Tyranid Prime (attached to Warriors)

Elite
8 Ymgarl Gene-Stealer

2 Hive Guard

Troop

5 Warriors

16 Terma Gaunts

16 Horma Gaunts

Heavy

Trygon Prime

I didnt add any options because I dont know how good/bad these are.
What weapon/option should I add for them?
In my thought I think warrior need a bone sword or two.
Other that that I'm completely at a loss.
I dont have much experience play against tyranid player.

Trygon Prime worth a points? Is mawloc would be better?
He cant decide which he is going to make. he think both are cool looks

Best advice I can give as a Tyranid player would have to be to use trial and error. set up some small matches and see what works and what he likes to use. That how i did it. Although i am having trouble adjusting to the new codex.

Starting up Space wolves

As well as Dark Eldar

Make the Stealers normal stealers and give them Toxin sacs (and possibly scything talons). They'll be more effective and cheaper and scoring.

The prime boosts the Warriors Bs to 4 so the warriors should be kitted out for shooting. Death spitters all round and a barbed strangler would be good. Give the Prim Boneswords as well to give the unit "punch" in CC and essentially perform the same roll as a powerfist in a Marine tac squad. Depending on points you could all out the unit for assault as well by giving all the warriors boneswords and deathspiters (one with barbed strangler still) and giving the Prime lash + bonesword and deathspitters. This is expensivethough it a serious hard hitting unit.

Give the Gaunts toxin sacs and again depending on points consider adrenal glands for the Hormagaunts (though that does make them 10 points a pop!). Stick with the fleashborers on the termagants though.

1 Trygon will die and horribly. How many points is he looking to make with this list? 1,000 points you could just about get away with 1 Trygon but more than that it is 2 or none they are just too much of a fire magnet when they arrive otherwise. However a Mawloc works well totally vanilla on it's own. It's main strength is its attack when it arrives so it should keep burrowing and returning. A good tactic is to actually start the thing on the table and burrow turn 1 so it definitely arrives turn 2.

Thx this is very helpful!!
Trying to make 1000pts.
Will warriors need toxins?
What about Venomcannon for warrior?

Problem is needs for bone sword.....maybe I should check modeling sections.

Venom cannon is a waste of points I'd rather take a deathspitter.

Warriors don't really need toxin sacs like stealers unless they have rending claws and then you are pumping as many points into that as you would with just getting boneswords and being done with it...

At the 1,000 point level with the rest of stuff you have you shouldn't need to boost you warriors to have boneswords. Keep your stealers for anti-MEQ CC ability and make the Trygon a Prime. Here's a list:

Prime - Deathspitter, boneswords - 95

Hive Guard - 50

Hive Guard - 50

Warrior Brood - 5 warriors, Deathspitters, barbed strangler - 180

Genestealer Brood - 8 stealers, Toxin sacs - 136

Termagants - 16 gaunts - 80

Hormagaunts - 16 gaunts, toxin sacs, adrenal glands - 160

Trygon Prime - Adrenal glands - 250

Total 1,001

Uses all the models and the only wasted points is possibly the super Hormagaunts but they should pack a serious punch now at least. They should throw out 21 wounding hits against Space marines on the charge!! You could take the Hive Guard as 1 brood, though this list only has 8 Kps which is pretty good for 1,000 points anyway and this will force your opponent to target each one individually and you can fire each one individually reducing your overkill and increasing his . If you like to run a really tight KP army then you could join them making you 7 Kps but I think the other benefits will help you more even in Annihilation.
