First off: This army is designed for a 2000 point tournie coming up where VPs will be used for primary mission with objectives used as victory point additions or similar type things. Any model can contest but only troops will be able to capture.

Also i know some of the missions will involved night fight or variable night fight rules at some point.

I love this list. Seems like it can take a lot of bad ass armies. I, myself, think that this list can fare very well in tournament play.

Are those gun drones for cannon fodder, or are you using them for pinning?

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

It looks pretty good but your bodyguards are illegal. No hard wired targeting arrays i'm afraid as much as we would like them. Consider adding more seeker missiles with those points. With that many pathfinders you can get off two turns of 6+ missiles which is pretty deadly in addition to everything else.

Oops those are supposed to be multi-Trackers will edit!

Edit: Also the gun drones are there not only for fodder but if I get the chance to pin something important then I definitely will with some extra marker light support. With the extra unit size I hope to just lose the combat, flee and let my guy go boom over whatever is assaulting me. This also lets me layer my army a little better because I have a unit of suits that I wouldn't really mind if they got assaulted, especially over my fireknife suits.

Skyray is rubbish get another Railhead or even an Ionhead!

What is the point of the positional relay? Your troops are going to be wiped out by turn 3 so you are just going to ignore the objectives? Given you have a positional relay you could have a scorefish (or warfish with FW upgrade) held in reserve for late game objective stealing.

What is the point in Warfish given you're not playing KPs? You're paying 105 points (ignoring the DP and MT for now) for a tank that throws out 7 S5 AP5 shots at Bs4 with front Armour 12. Compare with an 85 point predator that throws out 8 shots at S5 AP4 or better at Bs4 with front AV13... They are just over priced.

Do you really need 2 shield drones on all your crisi teams? I normally make do with 1 saves some points for elsewhere.

@FlingitNow

The Skyray is specifically for nightfight missions. I know the acute senses gives me a good chance at seeing things at a moderate distance but when I need markerlight support to bring something down that's on the edge of normal range for my pathfinders I simply have to have a way to remove night fight from the equation.

The positional relay is to allow me to reserve things as I see fit and bring them in when I want or protect some of my troops and walk them onto a board edge to then hop into a pathfinder fish. Also it gives me the option to bring my Kroot in on turn 2 almost guaranteed vs things like lootas/grots/rangers or other backfield troops/low armor vehicles.

Example: I have a back field objective so I reserve my troops and have 1 squad of fw come on turn 2 to hop in a fish and head to my opponent's objective with other tanks/suits. Turn 3 I can choose to bring on the kroot while still keeping my backfield objective holder completely safe.

Also it will allow me to build a more effective (or at least condensed) castle in my deployment as I don't necessarily have to include the warfish in the area because they can stay separate for a turn or 2 before hooking back up with the rest of the army while carrying their payload to the enemy objective.

I've never actually played with a Positional Relay before so this is mostly just me trying out some tricks that I've thought up by not had the chance to try.

I upgraded to avoid the KP because I just don't know if it might make an appearance in the mission in some way (tertiary objective possibly?). I agree though, dakka preds are a better buy than a warfish.

I like to have the extra shield drones mostly because I feel like I frequently take minimum 2 saves that would normally ID a suit.

Long run I still think you'll be far better off with an extra hammerhead on the table 2 ML shots during night fighting will not likely particularly help your suits. If something is that far away you can afford to wait a turn to shoot it. Then hit it with far more firepower because you haven't thrown 150 points into the woeful Skyray.

Example: I have a back field objective so I reserve my troops and have 1 squad of fw come on turn 2 to hop in a fish and head to my opponent's objective with other tanks/suits. Turn 3 I can choose to bring on the kroot while still keeping my backfield objective holder completely safe.

The problem is it brings exactly 1 unit a turn on meaning your warfish will arrive and just have to sit around waiting forthe FWs to come on the next turn. Meaning if you have all 4 in reserve that is turn 5 before one of the warfish can even start going towards objectives!!! If you had an actual score/warfish for a unit of FWs (rather than a stolen Pathfinder one) they could sit in reserve and this would be a far more viable tactic. But my advice is try this out before you enter the tournament you may find this is not very effective at all.

Also try out the Skyray in DoW deployment games to see how effective it is at helping your night fighting. On that point do you really need 18 markerlights?

Dakka preds aren't even a particularly good buy which just illustrates how poor the warfish is in terms of cost effectiveness. Just KP missions so totally screw Tau if you don't take them that way....

I meant that I would keep at least 1 warfish on the table that way turn 3 at least 1 troop can start heading for a far field objective. While discussing it I'm sure it seems obvious that they should focus fire on it to prevent my troops from reaching their lines but with the rest of my army fielded I'm sure the target priority will change quickly. Thus far however, I'm still yet to lose all of my troops in a game (except for the 1 time when I got tabled by a 1500 double lash list when I first started playing) even with people I've played saying "hmm that's an awful small amount of troops you have" when I show them my lists. I'm sure it will happen at some point but they're gonna have to work for it really hard.

Also try out theSkyray in DoW deployment games to see how effective it is at helping your night fighting. On that point do you really need 18 markerlights?

I understand that for DoW it's not the best but for 2+ turns of night fight (not necessarily done dawn of war style with everything walking on) I have a feeling I'll be grateful for the chance to get some early shots off. The other reason for the skyray is for nids as there are now very few 2+ saves and a seeker will wound almost everything (if not everything) on a 2. If I wanted to I suppose I could add in 6 seeker missiles in the rest of the army but I like the chassis for tank shocking and blocking for tank shocking things off objectives when pushing my devilfish up the field. I've also found that people can take a priority to kill my pathfinders and I try to get a much use out of them for as long as possible and when I don't need them as much they make a fine sacrificial unit.

Call me crazy, but I think Sky Ray might be worthwhile in a list with so many Pathfinders. Seeker missile strike can put a good deal of hurt to MC's or multi-wound T4 models.

Most Tyranid MCs have 6 wounds so that is entire Skyray arsenal hitting and wounding to kill 1 MC, not to mention the marker lights that would have to be wasted to fire them.

Yeah they can ID multi-wound T4 models which has it's place but then again it is only 6 shots all game for 150 points!!! No thanks.

If it could loose any number of HK missiles from 1 ML (obviously at the same target), maybe even with a -1 to hit for each HK after the first? Then it might be useful, stress on might! Otherwise it is just too many points on too few shots. 1 HK missile is never worth it's points so why take a tank that is just a platform for 6?
