So I harpies have the Speacial rule beasts, but when I was flipping through my copy of the rulebook I couldn't find any mention of what exaclty "Beasts" do...

Maybe can be effected by Spells from the lore of beasts?

The "Beasts" rule is in the unit entry for Harpies in the Dark Elves army book.

The rule stats that Harpies do not cause panic to friendly units and they cannot be affected by the Cauldron of Blood.

Why do you assume they cause fear?

Because they don't cause panic to their allies...?

I think I misinterpreted something D: Help!

Causing Fear is something entirely different to npot causing panic.

ah but the Harpies don't have the Beast rule in the beastman army like they do in the Dark Elf army. I guess because the whole army is beast so the Harpies only have flying and can be given scout for an upgrade.

as for panic its completly differant from fear as

you test for panic under the following conditions

i)a unit suffers 25% casualties from shooting (ie 12 halberdiers must test for panic if 4 are killed from shooting)

ii)A friendly unit flees within 4"

iii)A friendly unit is destroyed within 6"

iv)A friendly unit over us 5 flees through a unit

whereas you test for fear when charging or being charged by a fear causing unit

Ah, I see. The only reason Harpies are given the rule is in the last 3 scenarios, which makes sense I suppose. Thanks for clearing all that confusion up for me.
