Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I wanted to know whether you think it would be allowed to use the 55pt Chimera with all the weapons from the new IG Codex instead of the old Chimera that is 85pts with all the weapons from the DH/WH Codex?

If you want to field a DH/WH army you have to use the stats and points values applicable in your codex, unless its explicitly stated that you can use different points values.

You cannot pick and choose rules and points across from different codex (es?)

In a friendly game you can see if your opponent will allow you to do so.

You can only pick what your codex allows.

if you use the DH/WH as your main army on the field, you have to use the DH/WH codex and use the points it states, but if you use a IG or SM as the main army you must use there codex points. if you want to use a Chimera with DH/WH then field a IG army with DH/WH as support.

No because the Chimera is brought from squad's entry in the DH/WH codex. Even if you use the IG codex as the main one the models from the DH/WH codex will use the Chimera from their own codex. So you can have a mix of the different point ones.

But, there's nothing stopping you fom making another squad enter another's transport during the course of the game. The WH/DH FAQ removed the rule that made transports only carry the squad that brought them. You can't start in the transport though.

If you run SM with allies just make the Tactical Squads ranged so that they'd prefer to wait back in the deployment zone, then march the cheaper and morre closer ranged units into the Rhinos.

that makes more sence i guess. but tbh if your going to use DH then a rino or a SM related transport (im not up on SM stuff)

You can also induct a platoon, buy chims for it and let your WH/DH ride in it
