I've done specifically what the Rule book says not to do and read it page by page. I noticed a glaring absence of the old Cross-Fire rule.

Question: I was wondering is this rule still in effect? Did I miss this situation in another section? I think I remeber reading that a unit must avoid going within 2" of an enemy unit unless assaulting but that isn't quite the same.

Background: For those of you who cannot remeber the Cross-Fire rule, it said that if an infantry unit falls back through an enemy infantry unit and does not or cannot make their regroup roll they are destroyed outright.

Objective: I ask because although it is morbidly out of date I still love playing the DE and this used to be the only way they could capture slaves from certain armies like the SM's . Although as I recall from a previous edition a rewrite of the ATSKNF rule stated that if they were assaulted they would automatically regroup it never outright covered Cross Fire so I didn't mind too much. But maybe this edition is the final blow to my beloved Dark Eldar and their slave raiding shanagins...

Alt. Question: Does anyone have any slave capture house rules that work within the current structure of the game but still leave the challenge that this mission used to bring?

Rant: Slave Nets were a piss poor attempt to bring slave raiding back because as long as the opponent didn't try or succeded in his Death or Glory strike then they would never capture anything.

now you can only get within 1" of an enemy model by charging it. as for crossfire, it's still there but majorly nerfed. it's now called "trapped!" and is on page 45.
