Hi all

I have painted up some Aurora chapter 40k marines - example here http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/69074-SGT%20Awesome.html

Just in a local hobby store and saw Creos brand "Gloss, clear green".

Some questions from those who have been painting longer than I:

1. Does this gloss enhance the paint job?
2. Would you then use matt gloss to dull it down (and does this bring back highlighting you have done)
3. Does this protect the models paint job?
4. Apply across all green areas or selectively? Tips please?

Appreciate any help.

Ok, what you picked up was a paint to go over clear plastic to make colored glass on models such as tank viewports and tinted car windows. The more thin coats you put on the darker the plastic will look. Now I tried it on an Ork Mek Boyz with KFF. All it did was make the parts I tried it on glossy. It does not highlight or make any part better looking. It will protect the paint job but it will look horrible. Now if you are going to do windows or space marine helmet lens then it might look good but be careful using it. Use it last since matte finish will remove the gloss.

I think what you're looking for here is 'Ardcoat. It's a Citadel paint that adds a gloss effect to things, and is easy to layer on.

No single paint will enhance a paint job magically. However, applying washes the right way can add alot of depth to a model. You might want to look into those.
