Does the vanilla marine whirlwind and vindicator use a large blast template it says ordnance 1 or is it just the space wolves which say large blast?

Yes, they use the 5" blast (both of them).

The whirlwind is Ordnance, Barrage (which automatically makes it the large one) the vindi is a direct fire only large blast.

Yes, because all ordenance uses large blast unless otherwise yada yada yada Page 58 bottom.

All Ordnance uses the Large Blast unless specified otherwise. (Rulebook, page 58)

If an Ordnance Barage weapon fires as a barage, doesn't it use the small blast marker and you place them adjacent to each other with the scatter dice or something?

I believe you are thinking of multiple barrages.

a) No, as Ordnance Barrage is still Ordnance, and therefore uses the Large Blast unless otherwise stated, and b) you only do so if it is a multiple barrage, for example 3 basilisks in a unit.
