Hello all. I will be going to play a home made Tourney. Last time I was there, everyone played SM except for one. I plan on playing Tyranids this time. I will not know if people will be familiar with the rules, since when I played DA they were not fimiliar with them and I had to show them the rules in the codex that I was correct. Since there is a lot of rules in the Tyranid codex (5th edtion) that lots of people have different opnions on, what I like to do is make a list of rules that people think can have a misunderstanding. I am not looking for answers, (that will be up to the person who runs the tourney) but I want to bring them to his attention so he can make the final say either way.

For example

1) does the Doom of Malan'tai rule Spirit Leech, does it effect units in a transport?
2) Since Spirit Leech dosn't give an armour save, does it allow a cover save? Most agree a unit will get an Invulnerable save.
3) Does a Hive Tyrant with wings, can it Deep Strike.

These rules can be argued both ways, yes or no. There are other rules as well, wich I will try and find on the YMDC forum. But since there seems to be alot of these rules, and I seem to be missing alot of them, can you guys and galls please post your thoughts of what coiuld stop a game being played. I just want to play and not aruge about how a rule should go. We all have our opnions on what should be what and would like to make a list and give it to the tourney organizer so he can make a decision once and for all before a game is played and I can make my tactics acording to what says.

I will start:
1) does the Doom of Malan'tai rule Spirit Leech, does it effect units in a transport?
2) Since Spirit Leech dosn't give an armour save, does it allow a cover save? Most agree a unit will get an Invulnerable save.
3) Does a Hive Tyrant with wings, can it Deep Strike.
3) Does a Doom of Malan'tai get a 3++ invulnerable save because it dosn't say a DoM is a Zoanthrope.

Hope to read all your suggestions.

I would like to hear from people on what they think. These people I play with might not take Gwars FAQ so I would like to get a feel what us gamers think are questions that should be answered ahead of time.

If I bring Gwars FAQ, and it dosn't get followed because the other players don't want to use it, I would like to know ahead of time, so I can use the cards that I am delt with. I don't want to think one way and then not be able to use it and then I could be screwed. I want to be prepared ahead of time.

So if I ask here, then most likely these will be the questions that will cause me problems at the game then.

Hence the problem. There have been several threads over in YMDC discussing this issue. This isn't the place for another one.

I think Iron Chaos Brute suggested that you could take the questions from Gwars faq as a list of things that you might want want to discuss with your regular gamers. Wich is a very good idea.

So does everyone agree then what is in Guars FAQ will cover all the questions that could cause any trouble during playing a game?

Is there anything else that I should bring up to the Tourney oragnizer or player before I play?

I want everything to go smoothly. Since I am new to the game, I don't know the rules much. It was pretty awckward a bit, playing people who know the rules, don't even look at the charts to say what needs to be rolled to hit or save etc, that when I say I can do something, and they think I can't, then we have to stop and show them in my codex that I can. Is this normal and I shouldn't worry about it then?

Ok, I will email him Guar's FAQ then. If there is anything though that I should put in for the new Tyranid codex please let me know.

That's pretty normal. Whilst there are players out there with a good grasp of multiple armies, most people know their own army's rules and a bare smattering of everyone else's... So you'll spend a bit of time educating them, particularly if you're using a less common army, or an army that isn't in their normal group of players.

If you're going to use a FAQ, use the INAT faq.

The point being made was to use the FAQ as a source of questions to ask the TO, not necessarily to actually use the FAQ...

I just found out about the INAT FAQ. I didn't know what it was, and I read about it in a different thread and googled it. Then I found out what it was, and downloaded. I will be using it because I just don't believe in some of the rulings it says.
