During dawn of war, all units (besides up to 2 troops and 1HQ) start off table.
What happens if a chaos dread rolls a 1 for it's "crazed" test before it enters the board?

Also, if a chaos dreadnaught is immobilized, and it rolls a 1 for its "crazed" test with a freindly model to it's 3 o'clock (2" away) and an enemy model to it's 12 (16" away), does it shoot at the enemy or do nothing?

The Chaos Dreadnought doesn't roll for frenzy at all that turn if it's moving onto the table due to the "don't apply rules which would prevent moving onto the table" clause in the reserve rules.

Yup. Check the 'Arriving from Reserve' section on page 94. Second paragraph.

Thanks.
Anybody have and answer to my 2nd question?

Since Walkers only have a 45 degree arc of fire, it would shoot the model at 12 o'clock, since that's the only one it can see.

Just curious, why would you think it does nothing?

It might be able to see more actually, or more specifically the unit at 3 o clock may be considered a "visible unit" because that's not a clearly defined phrase like Line of Sight is, and they aren't necessarily one and the same.

In this case, given it's physically impossible to establish Line of Sight to the unit to the side, you have a better case for saying it's not a "visible unit", but the RAW isn't particularly clear on the issue.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Ah, right, I just caught up. Lack of sleep = brain fuzz.

Two units, one in the Dread's immediate LOS, one not... but closer.

The dread is required to shoot at the closest visible unit.

Ordinarily, it is allowed to pivot to face its target, so would pivot to face the nearer unit and shoot at them. But if it's immobilised, it can't pivot... so can not shoot the closest unit.

In that situation, since 'visible' is never defined in the rules, I would go with the nearest unit in LOS... which is the unit in front of it.

Of course, if you go by the interpretation that the Fire Frenzied Dread only pivots to face the nearest unit already-in-LOS, it would target the unit in front regardless of whether it is immobilised or not.

I thought that it would do nothing because the unit at it's 3 is the closest, and it couldn't fire at that unit, so I figured it would do nothing.

No, it HAS to fire at a unit, the nearest one it can see.

See my second post...

Should mention though that you didn't actually say that the unit at 3 was closer...

This is a bit of a contested point at the moment lordrevege. I'd recommend you search one of the many fire frenzy 'visible unit' arguments and make up your own mind. This means you'll avoid a shouting match the first time you play someone who understands the rule differently.
