and nary a peep about the beast army. Has any one given them a good spin yet?
Maybe everyone's still rebasing their ungors.
They're my next project and I've got five unfinished old boxes of (un)gors, but I have to get the rats done first.
Cygor seems to show promise against a VC army -- apart from no saves of any kind. He might be a better support unit to mess with the magic phase. For having ghostsight, he's still impotent against ethereal things.
Just curious...

I've had a little game, and honestly-I'm dissapointed. GW has put little thought into properly upgrading this book, it seems to me. Gors are now teetering on the edge of being useless, and it makes little sense to take anything except bare minimum units of Ungor raiders as core from a competative stance. Bigger monsters are nice, but as you said a lack of armour really turns most of them into giant walking pincushions. The Jabberslythe, I will say, has performed excellently though, and all beastie players reading this shoulsd drop whatever they're doing and go and think about converting one. There ARE a lot of nice things in the book. But tbh against most armies we're going to come crashing down with arrows in our chests. Dissapointing, Gee-Dub. Very Dissapointing. /pedastal

My thinking as of late is to run them like skaven, Points-wise, they're pretty similar. If some (or lots) die on the way in, it's just tough being a dumb animal, I guess. The nice thing is that all those old, cheap, out of print ungor command blisters at the FLGS are worth buying.

Well, on the east coast a lot of us have been attacked by snow. Most of the GW's in this area were not even open on Saturday (when most of the beastmen items were released, along with supporting events for them)
Hoping to hear/see more about them soon, though!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I've played *against* them and there's several lists posted up in the relevant section.
The doombull and gorebulls were ri-donculous when they hit home. If you can somehow get your minos in the fights you want, they're great. 3 minos and a spawn killed 19 hammerers in two combat phases. During that time the dwarf lord managed to kill the gorebull, but then he was outnumbered by fear causers and lacking a bodyguard.
Elsewhere, 3 minos, a doombull and a gorebull killed 19 warriors on the charge. Kind of makes static 5 or 6 insignificant...
On the other hand, the reason they got those charges was a total failure on my part to successfully bait/redirect or feed something to their overrun. If you've got chaff, shouldn't be too much of an issue.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.
On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

I've played three games one against High Elves, one versus Warriors of Chaos with the third being a civil war. I lost 2 against High Elves and Beastmen while the game against Chaos Warriors was a win. The key things I learnt was that Gor and Ungor are actually pretty good Primal Fury meaning they can deal with most units in their class. I also learnt that I need far more practice with the Chariots and that the Centigors varying move value can be a pain. I really need some markers for which version it's going to be. The Cygor is less ground breaking than it's been accused of being. It's fairly difficult to get the points back from it as you pay for both the Stonethrower and the Monster and using one stops you using the other. The Jabberslythe is awesome fairly hard in combat and fast giving a list a lot of punch. I hate moonwalking Ghorgon's and feel they shouldn't be allowed to pivot that much. Gorebull's are also as hard as nails and I want some.......
