Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

Hey guys, I'm looking to field a list for a local mini Rogue Trader tournament at my FLGS. I usually only play with my friends, and while I have pretty good success with the boyz, I want to be as prepared as possible for a competetive environment.

With that said, here is my list (special FO rules, no HQ required. Max 4 troops, max 1 of anything else): 750 points maximum.

Troop 1: 30 Shoota Boyz - 3 rokkits, Nob w/klaw, pole. 250

Troop 2: 12 Slugga Boyz - Nob w/klaw, pole - rokkit - Trukk w/ reinforced ram. 162

Troop 3: 12 'ard Slugga Boyz - Nob w/klaw, pole - Trukk w/ reinforced ram. 200

Elite 1: 9 Lootas - one is Mek with KMB. 135

747 points.

I think the strengths are:

1 - Lots of boyz! It's hard to deal with 63 bodies at 750 points. Against smaller elite armies I think I will have the weight of numbers as an advantage. My buddy who plays Chaos has a helluva time with this list.

2 - Speed. 2 trukks gives me the speed I need to get in and krumpin' with gunline lists and give the footsloggers time to get there. I think?

Potential weaknesses include:

1 - MCs. I'm depending on klaws (and potentially lootaz) to deal with monstrous creatures, which I'm sure there will be tons of at the tournament. Go go fotm lists. Any advice from seasoned ork players?

2 - No HQ. This is probably wrong. I have a big mek with KFF, big mek with SAG, and a biker warboss I could include. Thoughts? Warbikers?

3 - Three points to spare!

There are some obvious things - I could make the 'ard boyz into regular boyz and save myself 48 points. I could drop the mek w/kmb (curse you, loota box! curse you and your 4 guns for 5 guys!). I could cut the big mob to 20 with 2 rokkits and save myself 70 points.

I dunno - I'm pretty happy with the list as it is, but I'm very open to suggestions. I have bikers, 3 zap guns, a dred, more slugga boyz, and a few other things I could potentially include.

Feedback is appreciated!

Terrible rules-writing no doubt, but given that you basically can't play it RAW in any kind of sensible way lets you know that it can't be right.

Even as a weedy player like me, one thing people seem to scream is to avoid taking Meks with Lootas. With the list you have and the points available with the restrictions, try taking a squardron of something, like killa kans. For the same cost as lootas, you could field 3 walkers whereas most lists (restricted by rules) you will encounter will be lucky to field one. Plus they give protective support to foot sloggers behind them and could give a decent cover fire that while is not on par with lootas with a good roll, allows for more options (like rokkits or scorchas).

Unfortunately, I don't have kans

I have a dred, but I feel like all on his lonesome he wouldn't be nearly as effective as the kans you are recommending.

Most of my ork experience is fighting against them, so apply salt.

All in all, this looks like a good list. I wouldn't like facing it with either my marines or my tyranids at 750p. Lootas are really good against MCs (wounds most on 3+) and it's not hard to build your own. Basically slap lots of extra barrels, ammo boxes and sights to any ork, place a few with the other lootas and you should be able to convince anyone.

A mec with KFF would probably be awesome (leave room in truck unit I think). The 'ard armor upgrade is not worth it. Maybe equip the trukks with rokkits if you face multiple MCs or vehicles but mediocre shooting and in the unlikely event of them surviving the delivery of their units.

You could swap one trukk unit for a unit of bikers. I think they would stay more mobile throughout the battle that way, but be less scary in an assault. doing this would reduce the value of the KFF.

Kans are indeed good. Dreadnoughts are not... except possibly as a fire bait to keep your trucks out of harms way...

I'm digin this list your going for an all around type of army at a low point cost, which isn't bad at all. The lootas are nice to sit back and take aim at almost anything while the two trukks are going to cause them to react to them or they'll be in their face quicker then expected. The 30shotta boyz is a little of a proablem but could be worked out easy if you were going towards they would run till about 18inches away and then shoot, then next turn move 6 hope to be 6inches away to fire/assault then.
