So I have been tasked to set up a few large planet strike missions for a campaign. I have done a few planet strike games, but am relatively new to it. Thats why I have turned here.

My question is about terrain. First off the book says that you can have what ever terrain you want for the defender. This could easily get out of hand and unbalanced. Sure attacker gets to drop d6 + objectives ordinance on top of it, but it just doesn't seem balanced as the game goes on. What are the limits or at least guidelines for how much terrain should be used? Secondly, As far as interceptor guns and automated defenses go how much should I allow. Say for a 3k point game with 4 objectives. Mission is going to be planet fall and planet quake. I usually can figure outstuff like this just reading codex a lot and making a fair call, but I am at a bit of a loss of what to do here.

The guidelines for terrain remain the same as in the normal rulebook, that is 25% of the board should be a roughly equal mix of terrain, it's simply changed in that the defender sets it all up.

As far as the second question, I haven't played Planetstrike so I couldn't suggest anything.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Defeded sets up terrain - end of. just remind them that it's trying to make it fun for both people.

As for automated defences the rule in the book is one interceptor per objective.
