I take a wolf priest give him saga of the hunter

I take a 3 man wolf guard squad and buy them a dedicated landraider.

I attach the the wolf priest to the wolf guard

I then split the 3 wolf guard off into grey hunter squads

do I now have an outflanking landraider?

No. Do you want an explanation or is a simple No sufficient?

Page 64 wrote:Saga of the Hunter: [...]The character has the ability to outflank and the Stealth rule.
Page 94 wrote:Outflank:
During deployment, players may declare that units with the 'scout' or 'infiltrate' special rules are attempting to outflank the enemy.
[...]
Note that if such units are picked from their army list together with a dedicated transport, they may outflank with their transport, but if they do so they must move onto the table embarked in it.

So:
1) Being able to Outflank is not the same as having the Scouts or Infiltrate USR.
2) The Land Raider is a Dedicated Transport for the Wolf Guard, not the Wolf Priest
3) The saga does not allow a unit joined to outflank, nor does it grant Scouts or Infiltrate.
4) Thus, the Land Raider may not Outflank.

Under the couch

The Wolf Guard are split off 'Before the battle'

The only way an IC can be in their dedicated transport is if he joins the squad. Joining can be done during deployment, when declaring the unit in Reserves.

By the time you get to deployment, there is no unit for him to join, because you already split the Wolf Guard off 'before the battle'...

Independent characters that have joined a unit are considered part of that unit....

@gwar Wouldn't that then make it his (the wolf priests) dedicated transport?

@insaniak good point but the wolf guard still takes up a FoC slot couldn't the priest still technically join the 0 man squad?

No, as the IC is still nto the unit that bought the dedicated transport.

No, you cannot join the squad, and while they take up a FOC slot they do not actually exist.

then by that logic no outflank capable ic can ever ride with an outflank capable unit in a transport

Page 67, the dedicated transport may carry the unit it was bought with and any attached ICs

and no, unless the IC *also* has Infiltrate / Scout the unit may NOT outflank - because as the USRs page tells you if you had read it the IC causes the unit to lose the rule as soon as it joins, making the unit ineligible to outflank.

It's pretty clear that the restriction is to keep ICs that can't outflank from outflanking. This intention is supported by GW's SW FAQ, which says that an IC with Saga of the Hunter can outflank with a squad that can outflank.

Which really should have been an errata, as it does require a change to the rules in order to function how they state it should do in the FAQ.
