J. Mavik
Former commander of Clyian 56h artillery company

Many men and women in the Imperium have heard of the extermination of the population of Roussus. However, only a few know such gruesome act was caused by the decision of a single man: Commander Mavik.

Born into the Mavik family, one of the four nobles controlling the planet Algus. The young J. Mavik was destined to become an outstanding officer. He was sent to the officer’s academy at a young age. In these years he had endured the harshness of the training ground, and his father’s merciless beating when he could not recite the Tactica Imperium. After several years he had been shaped into a capable and ruthless officer after the graduation.

J. Mavik earned his first accommodation while serving under Cpt. Lunder of the planetary defense force, when an ork Waaagh! attacked the planet. Mavik, with only five year of experience as an officer, was in charge of an artillery platoon of the planetary defense force. While the guardsmen fought inch by inch against the orks on the outer walls of hive city Alpha. Mavik ordered Basilisks to fire at the hive city. The bombardment lasted for days, and in these days both the imperial guards and orks took heavy casualty, millions died as a result. The ork invasion was eventually repelled by the arrival of Clyian 28th and 145th, at the price of an entire hive city in ruins and billions of imperial men. Though the loss was heavy, the planet and its inhabitants were saved from slavery and annihilation. This “heroic” act earned Mavik a promotion to captain, and he became the commander of Clyian’s armoured company.

As time passed, Mavik’s trait of ordering artillery bombardment had become well known among the Clyian troops. As a result he earned a rather ironic nickname: Danger Close, which points to the fact that he did not care about the where about of the troops when bombarding. Mavik became so obsessed with the tactics of bombarding, while the imperial guards are engaged in combat with the foe, that he picked all the artilleries from his armoured company and formed an artillery company. The Clyian 56th artillery company, dubbed Mavik’s Finest, was born. His extensive use of such tactics, combined with a high level of casualty had caught the attention Clyian’s high commands. First the high commands suspected him being a heretic, however no such evidence was found after extensive questioning by the inquisition. The interrogation had left Mavik a broken man; as a result he was relieved of his command, declared unfit for duty. Little did they know, Mavik had done something far more atrocious than they could imagine.

Immediately after the interrogation had finished, he sent a set of coordinates to the artillery company, informing them to test out the new HE rounds onto the testing area. What he did not tell the company was the fact that this so called testing ground was actually hive city Roussus. Roussus, named after the planet Rusum, contained most of the population of Rusum. Ninety-eight percent of the population on the planet vanished in a week under the barrage, turning Rusum into a ghost planet. By the time the high commands had heard this, they declared Mavik a traitor and a heretic, and ordered the extermination of him and his family. When the storm troopers broke into his place, Mavik was nowhere to be found, he had disappeared.

Half a century has passed since the incident; no one has yet to find Mavik. Some guardsmen speculated that he had died by his own hands, while others believed that he had joined the ranks of insurgency. There are even more daring rumours of Mavik single-handedly kill an entire squad of storm troopers that were sent to execute him, and that he lives in the ruins of Roussus, forever repenting for his sins. One thing can be certain, that J.Mavik will take revenge for what the Imperium of men had done to him.
