I am looking for someone that I can PM or Email with when I have questions about 40k (played for awhile, still hazy on a few rules) or WHFB (I am just starting).
I have two questions at the moment. for 40k
1) How exactly does one go about deploying properly? My group usually likes to just set everything out at once (besides reserves) and have an all out war.
2)Ordinance Weapons. I would like to request an explanation on them. (One member of my group constantly insists that I am not firing them correctly and will shut up if he sees another human being agree with me and my rulebook)
Haha thanks in advance

There are rules for deployment in the BGB. You roll to see deployment zones, and you follow the guidelines set forth. Unless of course you are playing apocalypse...then just go nuts

What is your question? Ordinance weapons means you can only shoot that gun, no others, in that turn. And unless it is also barrage, you need LOS. Does that help?

There's no harm in just asking here I strongly suggest that you check the rulebook and FAQ's before asking any questions, though.
1) How exactly does one go about deploying properly? My group usually likes to just set everything out at once (besides reserves) and have an all out war.
The rules that the rulebook set out are clearly defined on pp86-95. It's easy: roll for mission type on p90, then roll for deployment type on p92. Roll-off to determine who goes first; the player going first chooses which deployment zone he wants and deploys his whole army, then the player going second deploys his whole army. The player going first gets first turn, unless the player going second succeeds in "Siezing the Initiative" (p92).
2)Ordinance Weapons. I would like to request an explanation on them. (One member of my group constantly insists that I am not firing them correctly and will shut up if he sees another human being agree with me and my rulebook)
Ordnance weapons (note the lack of "i" in "Ordnance") fire just like any other weapon. If it's an Ordnance Blast, then it uses the Large Blast Marker, which is fired as defined on p30 with additional rules on p58. If it's an Ordnance Barrage, then it uses the Large Blast Marker as well, but uses the Barrage rules on p32 with additional rules on p58. If you fire an Ordnance weapon, the vehicle can't fire any other weapons that turn (unless your vehicle has a special rule saying otherwise, like the Imperial Guard Leman Russ tank).

Awesome, can you explain the whole direct/indirect fire thing. I play IG and have a friend that keeps going on and on every time we play about those rules. I have showed him the BRB and explained but no dice unless someone else says it too

A Weapon with the Barrage (or Ordnance Barrage that decides to fire as a Barrage) type does not require Line of Sight to shoot at a unit, but does not get the Reduction of the Units BS if the unit was out of Line of Sight. Barrage ALWAYS fire as Barrage (and as such must always follow their Minimum Range limit etc), while Ordnance Barrage may choose to fire as a Blast Weapon rather than Barrage (and get to ignore their Minimum Range but loses the benefits of Barrage).
