This is a 1250 pt. pseudo-glass hammer and anvil list, utilizing drop podding MM dreads to open up transports, and a nice helping of anti infantry fire from my fast attack units and scouts mounted up in their LSS. It's a bit of a gamble with objectives, but given enough focused fire, it should be able to break most scoring infantry quickly enough to actually do some damage. MOTF hangs out in cover, doing his MOTF thing, and is completely expendable, though required in the list to allow for the dreads. C&C appreciated, thank you in advance.

Ironclads with hunter-killer missiles and meltaguns are better for busting vechicles, is it correct?

I agree, if you can work it in (perhaps drop a speeder in the 3 squadron) it would be worth it. Also, remove the locator beacons for the last 2 pods. They would be useless as there is nothing coming down after them. That would save 20 points right there or other things.

You could also swap out 2 of the dreads for rifle dreads (las cannon and missle pod) and have them pop armor from distance. That saves another 70 points in drop pods, and another 10 points in the second locator beacon (which wont be needed after the first pod dops).

Another way (too insure 2 pods come down first) is to put the second rifle dread in a pod and drop it away from the fray. That way, both the iron clads (assuming you take them as the first two coming down) will be hammering stuff right off the bat.

Make sense?

If I give you a cookie, will you go away? If I give you the bag, will you go far, far away?

The idea of the list is to take the fight behind enemy lines. Whils i will admit that the ironclad is truly an amazing unit for the purposes, it's kinda pricey for what it gets used for, and aside from the HK missiles, lacks any usable range. With the MM, as opposed to the regular melta, I know that I can land the pod and have les risk of scattering off the mark. the 3 Land speeders are essentially there to pulp anything that falls out of enemy transports, as well as quick response for anything that may pose a bigger threat, such as tanks and the like. My initial draft (this is #3) had 2 ironclads, but without the ability to charge the turn it comes down, you lose a turn to hoping you don't scatter out of melta range. The pair of rifle dreads could be useful in a higher points list, and i do plan to swap in for them at 1500, as well as changing up the layouts and bumping up to 5 or 6 dreads, if i can find the points, but duly noted on trimming some of the locator beacons for the sake of trimming some points.... maybe i'll trim enough for a conversion beamer to make the MOTF a little less of a waste of points....
