I'm a new member of Dakka Dakka though I've browsed the site and galleries for a long time. Basically I just wanted people to take a look at this army list and give any feedback. I realise this list is very low on transport options, i.e. it has none. The next 500 points will probably be invested in Rhinos, Razorbacks or Drop Pods - any idea which would be best for my list? Anyway here's the list. This is primarily designed as a defensive force which can strongly counter charge. My most common enemies are orks, nids and chaos so i'm used to the enemy charging towards me. The bikes and devastators stay on anti-tank duty whilst my foot troops adopt a defensive line and screen my bg hitters (command squad, terminators, dread). Please let me know what you think.

I would totally drop command squad because it costs loads of points and can not really do that much.

What is chaplains purpose in this list?

Flamer is not the best special weapon if you are doing sort of guinline. Go for plasma rifle instead. I would also consider a combi weapon for sarge. Combiplasma i think maybe... and a power fist is being a good choice if you want to stand a chance in a assault. I would say at least one rhino is NECESSARY (!!!) to every marine list that doesnt use droppods or bikes for troops.

I would consider camo for scouts but thats not necessary as opponent would probably try to kill your other units. Missile launcher has better synergy with sniper rifles than HB i think.

Terminators need a special weapon, preferably a cyclone missile launcher. And maybe some chainfist too (are you going to complain that these along with dredd are from AOBR?? hell... i love that set)

Dreadnought is fine but i think being armed with heavy flamer makes it better overall.

Dont mix special weapons for bike squad. Give then two meltas and power fist to be fast antitank unit. But MM attack bikes are better alternative IMO.

Devastators are total mess... Choose one enemy and then focus your weapon loadout to eliminate them. In case of your army it is going to be vehicles because you are very light on AT atm. So i would choose 2 lascannons and a multimelta. This leaves one marine and the sarge blank to have some bodies covering expensive heavy weapons. Of course better way would be to give lascannons to tac squads to make them lasplas AP2 thing which can combatsquad and is cheaper and more durable and give devastators quite cheap missile launchers.

This list needs some serious work dude.

Cheers.

Mud company 2000 pts.
Colonel Hermann Winter's Armoured fist 1500 pts.
Armored battlegroup 1750 pts.
Death korps of Krieg 4000 pts.
FoW germans 5000 pts.
BFG Imperial fleet 2500 pts.
Necromunda gang 2500 credits
Easterlings and Harad LotR 1300 pts.

with the set you got on the command squad I would get your Captain a relic blade as it looks like it's on Heavy Infantry duty. And like you said this squad needs a transport most of all so it can get into close combat

I would take a power fist on your chaplain instead of the meltabombs

Troops

Tactical Squad - 10 marines, missile launcher, flamer

Should equip your sgt with a power weapon or fist of some kind. The Snipers I find them to be underwhelming. But I have to agree with the above poster a little, when you friends start rolling with the new nid's those plasma guns would help take down some of the MC your gunna be facing.

Elites

Terminator Squad - 5 terminators, basic squad
200pts

Dreadnought w. multi melta
105pts

Assault Terminators are better than Regular Terminators but if you going for a gunline Regular Terminators are not bad but you should have a Assault Cannon or a CML to get some more punch

Fast Attack

Bike Squad - 4 bikes, 1 melta gun, 1 plasma gun
140pts

Get a attack bike in there with a Multi-melta

Heavy Support

Devastator Squad - 1 lascannon, 1 plasma cannon, 1 heavy bolter, 1 missile launcher
180pts

This squad needs filled out so you can take some wounds without losing your heavy weapons and keep it cheap, Heavy Bolters and Missile Launchers are best.

Other than that it's definitely a "Friendly" list

OK nice big reply. Yep termies and dread from AOBR. I was planning to increase termies anyway, thx for recommendations, and already have alternate weapons for dread.

Chaplain is anti tank with bikers, hug cover, flank, attack side or rear armour with bike squad. I have extra marines for bulking out devs but not extra heavy weapon troops. Something to work on.

So... I'll redraft this list. thx for the feedback.
Will drop scouts and command squad then revamp list with weapons spread between tactical squads. I know you want to see transports but i don't have them yet

I was thinking of getting 2 assault cannons for T squad and some attack bikes for moving firepower. Will take all this into account. Thx.
