I thought I'd post up here something I did for a commission just a little while ago. They're both conversion of Praetorian guardsmen. The first one became Iron Hands Straken, and the second simply had an overcoat sculpted onto him so that he could be a lieutenant.

I hadn't thought of it at the time, but I guess among the Praetorians, a trenchcoat is a symbol of rank.

Anyway, here they are.

Nifty How'd you do the arm?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I think they act as protective talismans too. In the first game I used both of these figures Straken (no trenchcoat) died horribly when a group of possessed Chaos Space Marines assaulted his unit.

The Lieutenant (+5 trenchcoat of Neo-bullet-dodging) made every save for every attack that hit him. Most of his lackeys survived too. He also popped quite a few CSM with his power sword.

So, more trenchcoats for me, please.

So, the trenchcoats help them dodge bullets. I hadn't realized that before.

The hand and arm below the elbow were taken from a Space Marine Scout. The upper arm- the wiring and shoulder plate- is all greenstuff.

There's a bit of greenstuff to make the transition between the scout hand and wiring smoother too.
