I've used Green Stuff a bit for building things up adding things on, but I have had no luck rolling it flat and making cloaks, ponchos, etc.
I want to make some cool acid-rain ponchos for my WWI-looking gasmask Orks.
Can anyone point me to a good tutorial on this, or give me some tips on how to roll it nice & thin and be able to peel it up again?? I can handle cutting it out in patterns, etc. I have tried it on glass and it just sticks really well (so I have achieved a beautiful green stuff puddle).
Thanx!

Well, you could try doing this:
Sandwich some green stuff between 2 pieces of clingfilm and then roll it out (flatten it).
Then just peel the top layer of clingfilm away, and hey presto...
Cheers,
Jack.

Water is great for giving you a bit of playing time before it gets sticky again, (or spit if its 4 in the morning and too far to the tap).
It is annoying tho the way it constantly moves shape when you poke at it or it touches anything. Try stretching it into shape from a rough shape, even if you wet your fingers then try and squeeze it flat, then (with a blunt knife), cut it square against your already moistened finger.
Poncho's for Orks! nice.

I use the cling film method. but with greaseproof / Baking / wax Paper. It works as long as the paper is damp.
Well I am a chef so it makes sense!
Poncho's for Orks sounds ace!

I use distilled Water ( any store will sell it ) with a sponge from my soldering kit..and just damp the work with it then take your green Stuff and use a Dow Rod that has been polyurethane and use it like a rolling pin or use a marble rolling pin with water that way it don't stick to the pin as you use it then just peel it off the table or pin and use as needed..(its what I use when making cammo cloke's for my IG snipers ( will upload some pictures or do a tut for you )

remember to cut the poncho to shape with a knife before you add it to the model, and add the folds after its been applied saves a lot of time when you do lots of models

I used wax paper and water for my Mad Dok's lab coat:
I just put the green stuff in between two sheets and rolled it with a rolling pin. Peel one layer out, cut the pattern for the lab coat and draped it over the model.
I still had a little bit of an issue with the wax paper sticking in a spot or two. Next time I'll use vaseline or something to lube up the waxed paper.

That is quite a good poncho you have there , if you make the poncho narrower at the waist you should get a better shape overall.
Also try adding a belt and buckle over some of the ponchos to give a bit of variety?

Another vote for the wax paper and rolling pin method.
If you're only using a small amount, a round-handled hobby knife works well as a rolling pin...

Yea, Water all the way! And grease proof paper if you need it.
All this talk of 'Distilled Water' tho, its a bit too pro I think, and potentially unnecessary. I like my models to have interesting contaminations; If you use your own gob then your models more yours than most peoples are theirs! Automatically Appended Next Post: p.s. Thats an other guys lab coat not a poncho!
And its nice! I love making my own characters if you want to be cheap or dont like the supplied models.
