Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

Hey guys-

This is the list I'm thinking about running for a league at my FLGS. It'll be the first time that I've played at such a high points value (some of the models are borrowed) and the first league I've taken part in. Apart from the points value, I know very little of the rules or scenarios that I'll be facing. As a result, I tried to make the list as strong and versatile as possible.

Any and all feedback is highly appreciated!!!

1,998

HQ1: Biker Warboss with klaw, squig, cybork.
HQ2: Big Mek with KFF, cybork.

Troop1: 30 Slugga Boyz + 3 rokkitz + Nob with klaw, pole.
Troop2: 30 Shoota Boyz + 3 big shootas + Nob with klaw, pole.
Troop3: 12 Slugga Boyz + Rokkit + Nob with klaw, pole. Trukk with reinforced ram.
Troop4: 12 'Ard Boyz with sluggaz. Nob with klaw, pole. Trukk with reinforced ram.
Troop5: Deff Dread with skorcha, big shoota. Armour plates.
Troop6: 10 Nobz with Painboy, cybork, 3 klaws, bosspole, Waaagh! banner. Trukk with reinforced ram.

Elite1: 9 Lootas - one is mek with kmb.

Fast Attack1: 6 Warbikers - Nob with big choppa.

Heavy1: 3 Zap Guns. 2 extra grots.

The basic idea is a massive mob of 60 boys that march up the middle of the field with a KFF. 3 trukks and the biker boss and his outriders sweeping forward on the flanks. Fire base of zzap guns, lootas and the dread as a bodyguard in the backfield. I think this gives me a strong presence in the middle of the board, lots of fast strong troops to go take objectives, and a solid firebase to defend objectives on my half of the board.

A couple notes:

1 - I would prefer for both of the 30 mobs to be shoota boyz. However, 30 of them are slugga boys that I am borrowing from a friend and are from the Black Reach set - so no shootas.

2 - I know the mek with kmb is bad. The box of lootas only comes with 4 guns, and I haven't gotten around to making a conversion gun. So I'm kinda stuck here unless I buy another box of lootas or get creative.

3 - I should probably have 12 nobs in the trukk... I haven't run this particular unit before, but it looks phenominal on paper and I hear it's very killy. Anyone run it before and have tips?

4 - Bikers + boss should probably be 5 or 9, right? Probably 9? I also know the Nob with Big Choppa is kinda bad, but that's the way I modeled him and I like to keep to WYSIWYG.

Anyway, this is getting to be a very big post. I apologize for the wall of text and if you've gotten this far, thank you for your time. Again, all feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

Up in your base, killin' all your doods.

I don't know, this looks a little all over the place to me. You've got footsloggers, bikers, and trukkers.

Drop the zzap guns, get kannons instead.

You don't need the mekboy in the lootas. The possibilities for Loota conversions are endless, try it.

The Nobs are a bit overkill don't you think?

Not too sure about the bikers.

Above all, some more anti-tank would be nice, Orks need as much as they can get, so don't be afraid to go a little overboard on it.

Lootas are your only static element, I'm not so sure if thats good in an otherwise mobile army.

I know Dashofpepper and Kevin Nash have used them in mobile armies so I'm sure they know. Maybe they will show up.

Like what? As far as I can tell, rokkits and klaws are the only dependable (lol) anti-tank in the whole dex. Nothing shoots over s8. What is a good choice here? Tankbustas seem... meh.

Man, I miss the zzaps from the old codex

Rokkits are fine if you have a lot of them. Trust me you can fit a lot of them in one list if you try. Deffkoptas, rokkit buggies, tankbustas, Kombi-rokkits,etc.

Kannons are static and give you either a decent rokkit with BS3 or some anti-infantry mini-pie plates. As the minimum point cost to field a squadron is 60, definately throw out those zapp guns and replace with Kannons.

Getting rid of the warbikers may be necessary. Throwing the nobs on bike instead with a painboy and FNP is great, but it also eats lots of points and you need to mix their gear to take advantage of wound allocation rules.

Throw out the Deff Dread and add a squadron of Killa Kans as well. Hell, by getting rid of the trukk boyz, you can essentially add another wall of kans, give some kans some rokkits, and maybe have enough left for some twin-linked rokkit toting deffkoptas, and 3 squads of 1 each at that since the warboss makes the nob bikers a troop choice.

Oh yes, and all the slogger boyz should become shootas.

EDIT: Increasing the size of the loota squad should also be done as well. No Meks and all a giant sheet of dakka.

As others have mentioned, your list is kind of all over the place.

Lootas are good, they're the most reliable method of Orks have of busting AV 12 and lower armor (most transports fall in this range). If you could get up to 10 lootas, I'd probably say take them as 2 squads of 5. If you have any deff koptas laying around, I would certainly trade out your Deff Dread for a like number of points of TL Rokkit Koptas, preferably with one buzzsaw.

The problem essentially for this tourney is what you have is what you have. When you look at where you want to go forward from here, I would pick a style you want to go for (Green Tide, Kan Wall, Kult of Speed, Mech Ork) and build towards that. Kan Wall is very popular, and GW is releasing plastic Kans in march. I highly advise against buying a Kan until then, the metal ones are more expensive and the cast appears to be worn out, they are extremely ill fitting and a pain to put together.

You can look around the army lists forum and find many good examples of all of those style Ork lists.

Oh, and the max size of a Nob squad is 10, so you couldn't add two more to the squad. Usually that's where you stick your warboss, but, yours in on the bike.
