I was just wonderin' if they're still competitive, and what tatics the army tends to use.

I don't know much, but I suggest you look here
http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Dark_Eldar_Tactica.
It's incredible thorough and insightful. It'll turn the Dark Eldar's almost 90 degree angle learning curb to a nice safe 45 degree angle.

They're definately still competitive in capible hands.

Dark Eldar Tactica (Drk_O accidentally let a period slip into his link which misdirects it)

DE are certainly still competitive. They probably count as a high mid-level army or perhaps a low high level army depending on whom you ask. The generally accepted most competitive tactic with them is, as with most 5th edition armies, mech spam - in the DE case that means lots of Raiders and Ravagers. Within that strategy they can go either quite shooty or heavily assaulty or a combination thereof depending on personal preference.

If you want to play assault, consider the wych army. It makes for fun and violent variation.

DE are starting to suffer a bit from paper-rock-scissor syndrome. There are certain army builds that they will have a very difficult time fighting, while there are many other armies they'll easily trounce.

Still, overall they're pretty effective, and I find they're a nice change to the local gaming environment as they're pretty rare and play completely differently from other armies.
