After reading the GW's FAQ's for IG Valkyries it states that models can disembark within 2" of the base. Does this mean they can actually be placed in front of the base?
The FAQ also mentions that the valkyrie has access points, but you cannot simultaneously disembark within 2" of an access point and 2" of the base, so it's not really clear how to play it.
RAW (discounting FAQs that create new rules) you cannot disembark from a valkyrie at all.
It would probably be more in keep with the original 'spirit' of the rules to disembark from the base but in the same general area as the access points... More or less how you would be disembarking if the vehicle was sitting on the table.
But that's not required as the rules currently stand. Just anywhere from the base is fine.

Not entirely true; you could always grav chute from it.
