Does the exposed foam of these poster boards get eaten up by spray paint? Do they need some special prep work to prevent that? If so, what is it?

thanks.

Yep, it can get attacked by spray paint.

Short way is just to paint the exposed edges with standard acrylic paints. You could seal with standard PVA glue/Elmers as well.

Long way is to either:
Add strips of plasticard or card board to the exposed edges.
Apply filler to the exposed foam, then sand down to the desired finish.

Thanks a lot. I've used card strips just to clean out the edges, I'll probably give put some acrylic paint on top of that just to make sure its sealed.

An alternative is to use acrylic spraypaint. You can find some types in craft shops these days that are safe to use on foam.
