Hi.

I've always liked building scenery; when I was little, before I even knew about Warhams, I used to sit with my Grandpa and build sheds for his model railway. Sadly, I haven't scratch-built anything for a long time, but I want to ick start it again. Unfortunatly, I've gone mad ( ), and am going to attempt to build an imperial fortress to place in a cities of death table that I will finish before I die, I swear . So I have a few questions;

1) I'm going to be using some models as statue's. Has anyone found any good techniques for painting realistic stone?
2) I might use some Inquisitor models as some statues, for big pieces of terrain; what would you consider mounting them on, and how would you make it?
3) Does anyone have any good pictures of large Imperial structures (for instance, a Fortress-Monastry) that they could perhaps share?

Thanks in advance. And if you're intrested in which Inquisitor model I want to use:

http://www.ebblesminiatures.com/shop/index.php has a brilliant bastion fortress kit which if I had a bit of time I'd download what it does is provide a cardstock core for detailing. It looks awesome but I can't personally recommend it not having used it myself....

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Put a cylindrical pedestal under the model. Basecoat it black, paint on Codex Grey, and then drybrush lighter grays on top (Fortress Grey, for example). You can also add stuff like dirt/mud and bird droppings (What? GW did it on some of their statues!). That makes them look more weathered and realistic. Hope that helps.
