This was my first game of fanasty we played a standard destroy your oppenent.
My list was:
Level 2 Mage with silver wand and amulet of protection
16 speramen full command with War Banner
11 archers with Hawkeye.

His list consited of
Level 1 Warlock engenieer
20 Clanrats with sheilds and muscican
20 Stormvermin
20 plague monks with magic standard of strength 2 hits.

Deployment I deployed archers with mage on top of th hill with Spearmen at the bottom.
He deployed Engenieer with Stormvermin in center along with the clanrats while the plague monks deployed on the flank in the woods which ended up as a mistake on his part.

Turn 1
General advance from Skaven. We discover you cannt much while in woods unless you are wood elves. Engeenier attempts cast lightning easily dispepelled by my mage.
High elf turn spearmen advance 6 with turn. In magic Phase Flames of the Phenoix is cast upon the clan rats and roasts 3 while the archers take another one down.
Turn 2
Clanrats and Stormvermin charge into spearmen in joint charge. Plague monks are still bogged downin woods. I strike first taking down three stormvermin and one clan rat for no loses in return drawn combat because of rank and outnumber. On my turn archers move up for flank charge on clanrats just in case. In magic phase 10 clanrats are icnerated by Flames of the phenoix and another flames is cast on plague monks killing seven of the fanatics. In combat phase one clan rat dies amd stormvermin for one speramen. Combat is strill drawn. Turn3
In skaven turn plague monks move up. Two more clanrats die as well as two speramen. High elves win the combat both units flee high elfes restrain and face the pladue monks. In elf turn Spearmen move up and turn to have the plague monks from the front. In the magic phase 11 out of the 13 monks are turned to ash by the flames and the reamining clanrats also turn to ash. Finally the Stormvermin are than hit by the falmes losing 3 to fire and one to archerey.
Turn 4
Stromvermin rally the two monks charge becaus of frenzy one is killed and the other gets revenge while the banner drags another down. On high elf turn spearmen turn form the dead monks back to the stromvemin how lose 6 more to magic and archerey.
Turn 5
Last of skaven flee off board masscare for the high elves.

And the moral of the story for Skaven generals is always charge the enemy to both the front and flank if at all possible. I saw the list and then read the result and kind of wondered how he lost so badly when he outnumbered you 2-1, but then I saw he charged in one unit in at a time and it all became clear. Also not sure a Lvl 2 High Elf Mage in a 500pt game is strictly "playing fair". Try dropping him to level 1 for an more equal battle.

Belielve it or not a few other armies have 2 level 2 mages and in one their both in Tzeenchian. Stormvermin and Clanrats charged at the same time but his rolling was below average while mine was quite good.

Ah well, each to their own. It's down to yourselves obviously, but I find anything above Lvl 1 in 500pts dominates the game too much. We also only roll a D3 on the spell selection table for these games, so results 4, 5 and 6 are avoided. Again these tend to be big spells that unbalance small games, so it's good to leave them out.

It's up to you of course, but worth trying IMHO.

I haven`t played much fantasy for a while, but IIRC, one mage can`t cast the same spell twice, yes?
I`m surprised your spearmen took out two units at the same time, didn`t he have any ranks?
Anyways, good report, sounds like fun

I cast the spell several times over the course of the turns and it was a remains in play spell.
For the spearmen the clanrats were really beaten by the spell and the stormvemin didnt have any command while I had full with a magic banner that added one.

If you re-cast the spell, the effects of the previous casting go away. And no, you cannot cast the same spell twice in one magic phase.

Also, you can march in forests if you are not playing wood elves. Wood elves just don't suffer penalties for moving through woods.

Incorrect Cryonic. I direct your attention to the first complete paragraph in the right hand column on page 15 of the BRB.

"A marching unit cannot move through difficult or other obstructive terrain or cross obstacles... ...Units that ignore movement penalties from such terrain can march through it as normal."

Wow! You really took it to the skaven... I'm suprised that a lowly block of high elf spearmen could do this well! Impressive

As to the above- you're correct, wood elves have a special rule allowing us to move through forests without penalty, but other armies cannot MARCH through forests or other difficult terrain.

They can MOVE through them, but at half of their normal (not marching) movement rate.

Well like i said the dice were really just great for me.
Also found out i misread a rule and kept casting Flames but on the upside it was active anf feeling at any time.

Gah, I really need to stop trying to determine rules and keep away from the YMDC threads.

Anywhoo, flames is a great spell, especially against horde armies like skaven.

So are you going to post more reports as the league progresses?

Actually yes but they will be once a week or everyone just because of Schedules. If I get any practice game ill post it that to.
Next game against bretonnia a know the player personally I should be able to win. Ill post his later.
