So I return to dakka after a somewhat lengthy abscence. The original Star Wars rebel guard project I had is currently on hold, with a platoon finished and additional units (and creative impetus on my part pending). In the meantime I managed to get sucked in to starting wood elves and I'm currently painting 500 pts, with about a third complete. However, these issues are neither here no there.

Recently another, insane and possibly brilliant plan has sparked in my mind. This idea seemed simple enough, build and paint 500 pts of Clone Troopers (a-la another Imperial Guard army) before the end of 2010. However, though planning for this project (especially clone infantry which would be converted Eldar Guardians, and concept sketches yield promising results) has gone fairly well I have run into a few problems/roadblocks which I think you most excellent people of dakka could possibly lend a hand in solving. The problems are thus....

The list that I would like to play for the 500 points would consist of a command platoon in a chimera and two veteran squads with tripple plasma in chimeras (since mechanised seems very feasible with the current codex). However it is here I run in my first problem: I would like to field an entirely star wars fluffy clone army, but I dislike or cannot find suitable APC units to represent chimeras to transport my clone veterans into battle. There seem to be three options. The first, is to field normal imperial guard chimera regardless and ignore the fluffy ideal for the clones. The second option is to maintain a fluffy army, and alter the list so it has no transports. However I gather an army of this stature (i.e all on foot) would be annihilated over and over on the battle. The final option is to quit whining and compromise and use some APC units from the star wars universe. If this be the case suggestions for suitable (and aesthetically pleasing) varieties of APC would be helpful, though I have had a gander at wookkieepedia and cant find any I particuarly like myself.

Apologies for the textwall and thanks for reading. In addition, thankyou in advance for any advice, criticism or comments!

In a Toyota, plotting revenge.

Yeah valkeries woulb be the low-flying gunships.
But chimeras would seem to be the clone turbo tanks from episode 3 duirng the battle of kasshyyk or whatever you call it.

i actually use my now-cancelled star wars minis game clone miniatures for 40k as IG and they fit pretty well actually. the clonetroopers are best as veteran squads with the grenadier upgrade (to give them 4+ armor). LAAT/i models are simply valkyries no conversion necessary and AT-RTs are scout sentinels. the AT-TE (a bit of a stretch here) is the leman russ without any sponsons (the top gun is the turret and the front ball guns are the hull HB). Clone commandos are IG stormtroopers and the single arc i field is either sly marbo (if i want to only field stuff from the IG codex) or an assassin from the daemonhunters book. clone commanders go with the CCS (also upgraded to 4+ armor). the jedi that i add are usually daemonhunter inquisitor lords (with acolytes as padawans and various astromech and protocol droids as the rest of the entourage inquis lords must take) or as straken if i only want to use the IG codex. it really is a pretty good fit right out of the box.

Do Air Cav. Clones as veteran squads in converted Vendettas. It's a good list and fits the fluff perfectly.

Wing Wong (a friend of mine in real life and Dakka) has started a clone army although it's probably under about three foot of fantasy sprues at the moment.
There is a certain Khorne Berserker head that works rather well when the ears are shaved off.
Have a look in his gallery for some wips and a little source material. I'm sure he won't mind!
