I believe this Doombull set up is better than Tauxon, as this one has +2-3 more attacks than Tauxon, the ability to attack back after a successful 1+ save, no chance of instant kill, and the stone of spite. Tauxon still has +1 impact hit, +1 T, and he ignores armor saves, but str 6 basically ignores most armor saves anyway.

This list also has a "decent" magic phase to go with it.

Hmm, I'll be picking up the army book tomorrow, so I will have more to say then . Let me just say that I am picking it up ONLY because of these minotaur lists that have been posted! I am very impressed and think it would make a cool army, and I want to look into it further.

My main question with this list is, you don't think the chaos hounds are necessary anymore? There's nothing to shield the minotaurs with. I know Ogres have this problem and seem to do fine, so maybe it would work with a minotaur list, too.

Like I said I am super-tempted to go for a list like this... it would be easy to purchase and paint, and for the ghorgon you could just use a dragon ogre shaggoth model. I thought that this list might look good at 2500 by adding in a jabberslythe... and for that I would think the varghulf (from VC) might look very nice (even though it's not an exact fit... there's no picture of it anyway, and it's an awesome looking model that could look beastman-ish if painted cohesively with an army).

Cheers,

Okay, I got the book and I'm reading through it now

What's keeping the minotaurs from dying in droves from shooting? They only have light armor... and for some reason people don't seem to be putting shields on them...

What is their toughness?

I have to admit, I am pretty curious about the army now too, with all these minotaur lists around.

Toughness 4. Generally, if you get some good shooting hits in on them, they'll go down. But a list like this is relying on the fact that there is nothing here that you want to take a charge from, and you can't shoot it all down fast enough.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

That is true. I doubt anyone has enough shooting to take all of them down, but then again a 4 man unit you only need to take out 1 to make them take a break test. How is their movement and leadership.

Its all about the chalice of rain baby!! Minotaurs are so god damn expensive and still pretty darn squishy. Chalice is pure win.

What do you think about these changes? I liked the list with hounds and going magic-lite. Here's what I'd do:

-Drop Slugtongue for 4 units of 8 chaos hounds (192 points, and you had 2 points leftover) putting the list at an even 2250.

-Drop the Level 2 on the mage and the Stone of Spite (since the opponent won't have used his dispel scrolls, and can just dispel it easily or use a scroll) leaving 60 points.

-Add a BSB (25) and Gouge-tusks (15) to the Gorebull, and Many-Limbed Fiend (20) to the Doombull.

So the list would look like:

Doombull-333
-Brass Cleaver, Ramhorn Helm, Gnarled Hide, Many-Limbed Fiend, Heavy Armor, Shield

Gorebull-235
-BSB, Steel Claws, Gouge-Tusks

Bray Shaman-125
-2 Dispell Scrolls

3 x Tuskgor Chariot-240
4 x 8 Chaos Hounds- 192

3 Minotaurs-189
-Great Weapons

3 Minotaurs-189
-Great Weapons

4 Minotaurs-236
-Additional Handweapons

Hmm... I think you're right! I was looking at that, too

Instead of the goodies I listed above (gouge-tusks and many-limbed fiend) you could drop a hound, and add chalice of rain. That would make the list look like:

Doombull- 353
-Brass Cleaver, Ramhorn Helm, Gnarled Hide, Chalice of Dark Rain, Heavy Armor, Shield

Gorebull- 225
-BSB, Steel Claws, Shadow-Hide

Bray Shaman- 125
-2 Dispell Scrolls

3 x Tuskgor Chariots- 240
2 x 8 Chaos Hounds- 96
2 x 7 Chaos Hounds- 84

3 Minotaurs- 189
-Great Weapons

3 Minotaurs- 189
-Great Weapons

4 Minotaurs- 236
-Additional Handweapons

4 Minotaurs- 236
-Additional Handweapons

Ghorgon- 275

Total- 2248

For 2500 I'd add in another rare choice (I'd choose the Jabberslythe) and drop 4 hounds . The other nice thing about this list is it's easy to purchase... 5 boxes of minotaurs, 3 boxes of hounds, 3 chariots, a Doombull and a Bray-Shayman (and perhaps the dragon ogre shaggoth and varghulf for the rare choices).

Your hound units are kind big... that wide units are going to be hard to maneuver at that size.
Also, I would bring back Slugtounge, he is a freaking awesome. I think that the list could benefit from him but I can see him not in the list and it still be okay.

He does seem really good; just doesn't fit my idea of a minotaur theme I guess.

What size is best for hound units? I thought they would need to be wide to screen effectively.

Understandable, I have just seen/heard sick things concerning him.

I would go six wide. They don't need to be huge to screen well. It makes them easier to get out of the way when the time comes. Five units of six should be enough to cover your line but give them more flexibility to get the hell out of the way!

Sorry I derailed your thread Angron (I see you've started another, so that's good)

I think in the changes I made above, I'd actually give the Gorebull Axes of Khorgor instead (since I'd included an extra 5 point upgrade on him, anyway).

That would make the list:

Doombull- 353
-Brass Cleaver, Ramhorn Helm, Gnarled Hide, Chalice of Dark Rain, Heavy Armor, Shield

Gorebull- 225
-BSB, Axes of Khorgor

Bray Shaman- 125
-2 Dispell Scrolls

3 x Tuskgor Chariots- 240
5 x 6 Chaos Hounds- 180

2 units of 3 Minotaurs- 378
-Great Weapons

2 units of 4 Minotaurs- 472
-Additional Handweapons

Ghorgon- 275

Total- 2248

Plus a Jabberslythe for 2500, and minus 4 hounds.

I like the way it looks. Try it out when you can and post some results. I am interested to see how ti is going to go.

Thanks! This is going to be a project for the summer, so unfortunately I won't have results until then... hopefully someone will run a similar list and post up some bat reps so we can see how it does

I put up a P&M blog that will follow my progress if you're interested
