IC joins a squad, combat ensues, enemies are in B2B w/ the IC can these be directed at the squad or do they HAVE to be directed at the IC?

have to be directed at the IC, as they are engaged with the IC.

Models in base contact with an enemy can only direct their attacks against the unit with with they are in contact.

So if the enemy model is in base contact with the IC and at least one model from the squad, they can choose which to attack.

If they are only in base contact with the IC, they can only attack the IC.

Models not in base contact but within 2" of a friendly model in base contact can direct their attacks against whichever unit those friendly models are in contact with.
