'ello ello there;

I put this up on warseer a little while ago and got some decent feedback but not a whole lot, so I figured I'd see what you lot have to say about it!

I know it'll suffer from everthing all-drop armies do, but having never played them I don't know how to try and fight that. I know the easiest way to deal is just reserve, wait for the pods to land, and then walk on and blast 'em. Any tips how to help mitigate this?

Anyway...the list is this.

MotF - 100

3 x Dread - MM/HF, pod -- 450
3 Ironclad - MG/HF, 2 HK, pods -- 600

3 x 10 Tac - MM/Flamer, PF, Pod -- 690

Total is 1840.

Thoughts, comments, and criticism welcome!

I've wanted to play a list like this for entertainment purposes but I'm skeptical about dreads. I usually drop 2 in pods, but they are such juicy targets that they rarely seem to dish out much damage before they are headed to the scrap heap (my opponent seems to fixate on them). Contending with 6 could be another story however. As for mitigating the stuck in no man's land syndrome you can try to drop some behind cover but that will likely not be possible if you really want them to be down your opponents throat early on. I would take the chance and just hope for bad reserve rolls. Then you will be in a good position to stomp on what trickles on the table. Plus, you'll be dropping 5 pods on the first turn...that can take up a lot of real estate on his table edge.

That's kind of what I was thinking...and if i can cluster the pods close enough I should be able to get some cover on most of my dreads. Maybe pop smoke on a few just for safety if there's nothing to shoot at.

The biggest problem will be reserve-denial and kill points...all those pods will go up in smoke pretty quickly.

Thanks for the tips though! Anyone else?

Dreads do die quickly, so that is why you never play 1. However in groups they can be quite destructive. One thing I would maybe consider is drop a power fist or 2 for power weapons. You can pick up a couple of Beacons and/ or deathtwind launchers. It is nice to be able to land with no scatter if you need it for a double pen shot coming out of a pod. I do like the list and think it would be a fun one to play with and against. Good luck!

Also, maybe consider just dropping the PF's for melta bombs and put more beacons on the pods or EA on some of the dreads.
