Im doing my first build and need a good suggestion for a monitor. I have about 250$ to spend on it. I will mainly be using my computer for gaming. Looking for HD also, however I know NOTHING about monitors and T.V.s so any help is appreciated!

What monitor do you currently have?
Also you'd have to have a specific size in mind or at least somewhat of an idea.

I recently upgraded from a 17" CRT to a 21" LCD and I was amazed at the clarity. Cost me a little under $200 (AUD) and didn't break my back in the carry from the computer store to my place (unlike the CRT which I'm pretty sure damaged something in the move from the car INTO the house).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Careful with removing the CRT. The stuff inside it is toxic if I remember right and you have to get it removed specially. Although chucking it in the normal bin works just as well

Also if you're spending $250 usd, you're paying way too much forr one. Or getting a pretty high end one.

As a guess without know exactly the space requirements, a 21"-24" LCD should be good. If you want to go the fancy way you could get a card for the PC to allow it to hook up to TV and use that as a screen.

Oh if I can spend less, then by all means I will!

Im going from my laptop screen actually. Ive never ever bought a monitor so I am fairly new to any of this. I have no space requirements beyond something reasonable.

Thanks for your help so far guys!

I recently got a Samsung 23" HD monitor just before xmas and it's really great and super clear. I think it was $249. Seemed like I had to go with 23" to get the full HD resolution ... 1920x1080 or something like that
