I gotta doubles tournament on Friday at my local GW and I need help writing a killy 500 point Ork army list.
Any ideas coz I'm stuck at the moment...

What is your partner playing? What role will your orks be providing? Defining what you need your Orks to do is the first step- they can do anything, but are usually only good at one thing at a time.

at 500 points?
A warboss w/ a PK and as many boyz and rokkit launchas as you can fit.
No need to worry about anything fancy at that point level.

From there, you have a few options- if you must have an HQ, You can take a KFF Mek for cover and add 95 points of slugga boyz to the configuration- either 40 points of rockets and 9 extra boyz or 15 extra boyz.
A more aggressive build might feature a Biker Warboss plus a few extra boyz. Keep him attached until you're within 18" of the enemy, then break him off and send him in alone. He ought to be able to handle any squad out there at 500 points, or at least tie it up until the boyz arrive.

Just put in a Mek with a KFF, and go nuts on large boyz units with nobz with PKs.

A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

Whatever you do keep your numbers high. Depending on who you play you are going to be the first target in against shooty armies. I personnally like a KFF mech 3 trukks and buncha boyz. If foot sloggin gretchin/boyz maxed out with warboss.
Either way you are running interference / threatening while he shoots em up.
