Hello everyone,
Been a while. Got a question for you all. Me and the friend I play most often with had an argument last night on how far true line of sight goes.
The particular issue that sparked it was, he had 3 Guardian Jetbikes behind a small piece of area terrain. There were trees in between my two Khorne Berzerkers and his bikes. Dropping down to their heads to check LOS, I could see (albeit small) parts of the bike through the trees. As such I felt that I was entitled to shoot, but that he would definitely get a cover save. My two bolt pistol shots ended up killing two bikes and then the third failed its leadership test and flew off the board on its 3d6. Granted.. that was a lot of luck on my part but understandably, he wasn't happy.
This has happened a bunch of times when we play. My belief has always been that if you can see any element of the target's body (not counting wings, tails, banners etc), you can shoot at it. If you can't see the full model, then it's getting a cover save. His belief is that it's a cheap move to take a shot like that. Another example would be what if somebody was in ruins and there was a hole blown in a wall and through that hole you could see a target. I would say yes the shot can be taken, of course granting a cover save.
Maybe as a compromise in such situations a 3+ cover should be given if only a very small part of the target can be seen.
So I ask you Dakka, how far does true Line of Sight go, and specifically for you?
