Subject: LOS question

Ship's Officer

Okay, so I recently saw a thing about how RAW, Wraithlords can never fire, since they don't have 'eyes' and can't draw LOS to a target. Obviously, nobody plays this way. But it got me thinking, have I been playing wrong for the past few months since I started?
When my buddies and I play, we play like chess, where the model's facing doesn't matter (I guess we assume the model is free to twist his head/body around on his base) and just draw LOS from the head. (Except for vehicles, for obvious reasons).
It seems pretty clear to me that RAW we actually have to position our guys to ACTUALLY see stuff with their eyes (i.e front of head). But I'm wondering, is that how everyone really plays? I'm just curious so when I go in to my FLGS for a game I don't have any problems with anybody there, especially about something so basic.
Thanks

As you move the models in a unit, they can turn to
face in any direction, without affecting the distance
they are able to cover. Infantry models can also be
turned to face their targets in the Shooting phase, so
don’t worry about which way they are pointing at the
end of their Movement phase (although dramatically
facing off against their foes is traditional).
p11 BRB, iirc it's confirmed in the shooting rules but I'm tired.

In the Shooting rules it is stated that Infantry (and other non vehicle models) may pivot to face their enemy.

Technically, yes, models should be turned to face their targets.
From my experience, few people actually bother with infantry. Walkers, yes, but infantry are generally just played as having a 360 degree LOS.
Others' experience may differ.
