Hi,
Just to give you a little background- I played
40k over ten years ago in third edition, and then got out of the hobby for a long time. Since getting back into the hobby a year and a half ago, I have owned 5 armies, in the following order:
Tyranids, Tau, High Elves, Lizardmen, Wood Elves
Each time I sold the previous army to fund the purchase of the new one, and each time I wasn't able to get going on the project or come anywhere close to finishing it. I finally purchased a fully painted army (the wood elves) so it can satisfy my gaming itch for the next several months while I work on this army. In that time, I plan to slowly purchase, build, and paint 2500 points of Beastmen. Rather than buying large lots (new or used) as I did before, I plan to slowly save and purchase this army one unit at a time, and finish each unit before moving on to the next. I have heard that this is the best way to approach building an army... but I stubbornly refused to listen before
So I have permission from the Misses

for a $30 weekly budget, plus some start-up costs for supplies, and ocassional other expenses (primer, tournament fees, etc). I plan to purchase the army in the following order, one item per week:
EDIT: I already purchased 2 warlock engineers and an assassin, and have decided to go for skaven instead!!!
Supplies
Clanrats
3 Poisoned Wind Globadiers
Clanrats
3 Poisoned Wind Globadiers
Doomwheel

6 Gutter Runners
Clanrats
Screaming Bell
So the entire army should be completed in 4-5 months time. If this goes well, I may try this process again, which would be very cool since it would mean I could construct 2 new armies each year

. I think pacing myself like this will help me to stay on-target and get it done! And also not try to tackle more than I can handle at one time.
I'm also planning to purchase the models from my local Games Workshop where I'll be playing most of my games. I know this will mean I'll end up paying 20% more than I would have otherwise (which comes out to about $100) plus tax! However, to do the army piecemeal like this, I'd have to pay for shipping over and over to order it from somewhere. Also, I'd like to support my local gaming store (which I have never really done) and
GW is the one I play at. There are several in the area, however I will probably use the one closest to me, which is also the smallest, where I have met a few regular fantasy gamers.
Wish me luck! I'll post here steadily to give myself motivation to keep going, and to show off what I've done
