Hi,
I just got on board with the game with the Prime MKII book. I'm interested in the backstory of the game, but I admit I haven't fully read the fiction sections of the book because I'm concentrating on the unit and model stats and rules.
I'm reading on the forums that a lot of story details, such as the transformation of warcasters into Epic warcasters were told in the many previous books. So, my question is, where on the timeline does MKII put us? Do the fluff sections recap events up until that point, or is history rebooted? If I want to get up to speed fluff-wise are they any particular books that are most important to check out?
Thanks,
Jamie

there was no reboot. everything that happened in the old mk.1 books is still history. its hard to say which books are most important since they happen chronologically but apotheosis is a very good story that is not touched on in prime 2. legends is the most recent story development so you will get more up to date details there. hordes metamorphosis also has a significant event that happened just after legends.
if i am not mistaken the year in the current story is 608 but it may be early 609.

I found something useful on the PP forums: Timeline of the Iron Kingdoms.

They've also said (sorry, don't remember where) that the entire story will be up to date once all the Forces books are out. (May) How many people are going to buy 4 Forces books just for the fluff though...

Right on. I've finally finished reading the histories of each faction and I'm impressed with the quality and depth of the fiction. They are not kidding around when they say that this world is constantly at war! There are a lot of realistic circumstances in the relationships between the nations that play out in the struggles. Looking forward to checking out a couple of the faction books soon. Thanks, all.
