The giant bow counts as a bolt thrower, so if the stegadon moves it normal 6'', then the giant bow can't fire? correct?

The Steg's rules allow it to move and shoot, but not march and shoot or stand and shoot with the bow.

Huffy - it doesnt count as a bolt thrower, it jsut follows SOME of the rules of a bolt thrower. One way it doesnt is that it is given explicit permission to move and fire.

I think the logic is that the crew of the bolt-thrower isn't moving it. The platform it's mounted on (the Steg) is moving, the bolt-thrower just goes along for the ride.

that's like saying for dwarfs, if a warmachine crew had a platform to stand on they could move and shoot, since the crew isn't moving the warmachine is

Exactly. IMO if you put the bolt thrower on a wagon with crew and had a team of donkeys with a driver pulling it, then the bolt thrower crew would not have to worry about hauling butt to move the bolt thrower and still getting everything ready to shoot it. Therefore, they would be ready to shoot when it stopped moving. At least that is the logic behind the whole crew not having to move the war machine and set it up to shoot in one turn.

Just like the Dog of War cannon can move and shoot... but that a special case... I'm more worried about how the hell do you aim a bolt thrower from the top of a stampeding stegadon with any accuracy?

Which is why you cannot MArch and shoot

the normal move is more like a general stroll...1

Very carefully, I imagine.

I just had a beautiful moment imagining a stegadon toppling slowly forward, a huge arrow embedded in the back of its massive skull, skinks looking at each other in horror and grabbing onto protruding bits of howdah... priceless.

I think that should be a misfire when you roll a 1 to hit, you embed the bolt in the Steg's head, D3 S6 wounds.

I'm pretty sure those wounds should have the KB rule.

Which would do nothing as the Steg is great than US2

I don't think the skinks can tip that thing high enough to hit the steg. You would need them to form a skink pyramid, which would be pretty hard to do while the thing is moving.

Impressive though, much more than a bunch of guys on motorbikes...
