I'm attending school in Northern New Jersey in the Newark area; I recently moved there from Raleigh, and lacking many of the regulars I play against, I'm rather at a loss when it comes to finding opponents in the area.

Any suggestions?

The only game in town is a great store to play at, it's in somerville (about 20-25 minutes away from newark). Good days to come are wednesdays thursdays fridays and saturdays. It's great for finding warmachine, and 40k games, and decent for fantasy games. Hope you stop in.

Actually, weekends are the only days I'm completely free.
I may stop in today perhaps just to take a look.

What is this name of this store in Somerville?

I went in there a couple times and wasn't too fond of it. It's a very well stocked and frequented store, and is quite large, but it just didn't seem very... welcoming to me. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

If you're going to school in Newark (NJIT, Rutgers, UMDNJ , ECC etc) there's a LGS in North Arlington called Reality's Edge, it's only maybe 20-30 minutes away from university heights. I go to NJIT myself but commute from Kearny, so it's a much shorter trip.

After figuring out that "The Only Game In Town" was the name of an actual store, I called them yesterday and the owner didn't seem very nice.

Oh hey, I also go to NJIT.
I looked at the Reality's Edge site, and apparently Sunday (today) is open 40k day. I usually do my shopping in the Kearny area so I'll stop by tonight to see the 40k crowd and hopefully they're not too clique-ish such that I may get a game in next week.

I recall that my two regular groups in the Raleigh/ChapelHill area were quite cliquish. Now as an outsider looking in, it's a real deterrent.

That's exactly the problem with the only game in town. as an outsider it's like you're alienated.

I personally go to a place called Family Fun Hobbies in Hamilton. They are new (been around for only a few months now) and thus very inviting to new people and no cliques not sure if that's close to you or not though. Also since it's a new store it lacks much terrain and stuff, too.

I've been told Maplewood Hobby is also pretty cool, I'll check that one out someday.

Anyways, I went over to Reality's Edge today and missed the 40k crowd. Pity. Everyone else seemed really nice.
I'll be there next week. If anyone is up for a game, I'll be the guy standing idly with a bang of miniatures.
