First:

vehicle squads (i.e; drop pod) are squads of one.
vehicle squads (i.e; land speeder) are squads of 1-3

IC can join squads.

IC can join vehicle squads? (yes?)

IC Can therefore join a drop pod squad (to deepstrike if he has a jump pack.)

So, the question, and I'm asking 'cause I'm sure I'm wrong.

if I have an honour guard squad in a drop pod, and I want to drop them with my chaptermaster can they deploy in the drop pod while he does with the jumpack?

is this possible?

The IC rules clearly point out that they cannot join vehicle squadrons.

Saying that a single vehicle is a "squadron of 1" is incorrect. If that were the case, immobilised results would wreck every vehicle in the game. When a squadron is reduced to 1 vehicle, it is no longer a squadron and follows the normal rules for vehicles. Obviously, a single vehicle (such as a drop pod) is never considered a squadron.

As far as the honour guard/CM, no, unless the CM loses his JP and rides in the drop pod with the honour guard.

EDIT: Clarity

Like Zatchmo said.

Solon - is there a reason that you don't want to put the CM inside the pod with his honour guard?

Because they have an obsession with having a Jump Pack CM, and really really want to find a way to do it?
