Had this guy for a month or so but finally got started on painting him this weekend, with much of the progress coming in a couple of hours today!

The inspiration for the paint scheme comes from Call of Duty - Mordern Warfare 2's Task Force 141 and the gear they wear in the Quarry multiplayer map.

Particularly pleased with how the helmet, goggles and face have come out. The face looked like it was gonna be a pain in the ass due to being hard to get at with the brush, but was pretty easy in the end. The goggles were the result of a little play around that turned out nicely. I think they look properly see-through, while still appearing reflective.

I'm going to give him a spray with some dullcote through the airbrush before applying the metalics to remove the sheen from some of the washes and glazes.

My first time painting in about 2 months so a little rusty again, but it's been good fun. I recently found some daylight bulbs that fit in my Ikea painting lamps so these have helped a lot too when it comes to painting. Unfortunately they don't seem to be as helpful at the moment for photo taking! Think I'll need to adjust to them so sorry for the poor pics in the meantime.

Hopefully finish him this evening and can then look at finishing a commission and starting up on these:

Can't wait!

Cheers,

Dante

Looks very nice, I agree the goggles have turned out great. I am not familiar with Infinity but am I right it's about 28 mm?

It looks great Dante, I've liked the look of the Infinity figs and know you'll do it justice.

Oh and would I be correct in saying this is the model ,with the sniper riifle, that you posted a pic of on your blog.

Thanks!

Yes, it is true 28mm so a reasonable bit smaller than GW scale.

He has a squad automatic weapon, but yes, it's the same fig I posted a pic of in my blog. Glad you like how he's shaping up! Good to see you back in here too!

Agreed! Sometimes I can get to overactive and overbearing with my painting that I just have to take a break I'm eying up one of those Elysian Tauros Venator's though, it just screams I-Munda. Uh Oh! if your interested Dante I've started a mini monthly painting competion which can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/279823.page

I completely didn't get the blue until I read about MW2, and then it made a whole heap of sense. I'm keen to see how this model turns out. I'm a big fan of your work, so I'm keen to see more!

It is an oath we honour. Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

Dante, quit bein so cool. Your painting technique has eaten away countless minutes from my days just oogling at your models. That is my demand, fulfill it.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

Cool, will check it out! The Tauros looks cool, might have to pick one up soon. Defo =I=munda material!

Yep, seems a bit of an odd choice but it looks good and saves him from being all camo and getting lost in the base. Finished the main body of the fig barring the metallics, now just need to do the hands and gun and the base.

It really is an incredible range of figs! They certainly get the CMDante seal of approval and I'm already eyeing up a few others for my collection.

I'm always happy to see INFINITY stuff show up.

I am doubly so now that you're doing so!

And triply so as I see that you'll soon be painting up an Anathematic!

THAT is the model that made me finally take the plunge and start collecting a Combined Army force!

Looking forward to more!

"Pick it up 141!"

Finished the figure himself this evening, now just the base to go. Sorry the pics are still a bit sucky, need to sort that out.

All in all pretty pleased with him, especially given the size! (scale pic to follow later).

The gun was a bit poorly cast, especially the hands so it's a little rough, but otherwise, great figure!

More soon.

Cheers,

Dante

Looks good dante, as you are further on yours then I am with mine I will post some pics of mine on DW later for you.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Man that's one lovely model! It looks great Dante, I Munda potential it looks like to me. I can just imagine that model in the Venator, a Rogue Trader converted from the Officer of The Fleet, a Smile Girl from the Daemonettes. There's too many things I want to do

Thanks chaps!

@Empchild - Can't wait to see your finished take on the figure. As I said on DW, it's looking really good already and I like the camo scheme! Now where are those fresh pics!

@Bloodthirster - Cheers buddy! It certainly has potential for it! Now get cracking with that Venator! Yourself, Molotov and Les Bursley may be responsible for future damage to my wallet. You have been warned!

Also, check out what arrived today!

Cheers,

Dante

Gave your khaki method a try, Dante.

Worked like a charm. Thanks mate

However, mind doing a step by step on the goggles? I'm doing a full Cadian army with respirators/blast goggles...and other than just painting them black with a speck of grey I got nothin'.

Well, I got the Chimera stuff sorted and unbagged.

One of the Side Skirts was missing, phoned Forge World and got a replacement set on the way(not five minutes after I realized the thing was missing--with a tracking number to boot!). Got shipping confirmation on the Stryker and the replacement HMG/Sniper models are on the way from Neal and the Warstore.

But I'm a wee bit distracted now, as "Soul Hunter" arrived

it's the one-piece body from the first run of casts...
strange that they had to cut her in half for better casting, as mine is flawless...

always a pleasure to watch your work...

cheers

Guilty as charged My wallet must be clouding my mind, after you hurt it with so many ideas for my Mordheim project How about turning the Venator into a civilian armoured car? That's what I was thinking of doing if i manage to get my hands on one.

How the bloody heck did you do the Olive Drab? Mine never turns out that well.

Excellent paint job! I like the olive and browns, especially the olive as it seems to be living with the different hues.

The pose is a bit awkward with the gun. The hand on top of gun seems to push it down but it has no support from the ground.

Great job otherwise.

Yeah, he posed it a little bit different than how the model seems to want to be put together (where the HMG is resting on top of the sandbags but aiming down a bit).

Yeah, bit of a muck up in measuring out the pose that I then couldn't be bothered to fix. I like to think the gun is kicking up from the recoil and he's forcing it back down.

As for the olive drab, it's vallejo german green grey mixed with varying amounts of vallejo pale sand and then washed with devlan mud and catachan green to tone it.
