Subject: All skink army list

This was just a thought of what an all skink army list could look like:
HEROES
skink chief with stegadon and stegadon war-spear=340
level 2 skink priest with engine of the gods, dagger of sotek (because one of the main army's I play against are skaven) and rod of the storm=440
CORE
20x skink skirmishers with brave=146
20x skink skirmishers with brave=146
SPECIAL
6x terradon riders=180
RARE
3x salamander hunting pack with additional handler=240
total=1492
I would like your opinion on what would improve it or if you think this is a complete fail
P.S Please keep in mind this is the first form i've started

I like the idea of an all Skink army. Here is what I would do.
H: Chief - Ancient Stegadon, Warspear (380)
H: Priest - Magic level, EotG, PoT, Power Stone, Dispel Scroll (440)
C: 10 Skink Skirmishers (70)
C: 10 Skink Skirmishers (70)
C: 16 Skinks and two Kroxigor (190)
S: 3 Terradons (90)
S: 3 Terradons (90)
R: 2 Salamanders - extra handler(s) (160)
The Chief get and shiny new Ancient Stegadon for higher S impact hits.
Priest gets some new kit, while the DoS is a kool gimmick, he already causes Terror from the EotG. With an extra spell you have a better chance of getting a multi-use RotS. The Power Stone gives extra dice when needed.
Skink Skirmishers are awesome. Twenty is much too large for a unit, though. Ten works better.
Skrok unit for killing power! With Fear and some numbers, this unit is a good flank charger after the Stegadons hit the front.
Same amount of Terradons but in two units. Super versatile unit which is going to be a hassle for the enemy to deal with.
One less Salamander but two should be enough.

No point of having Skink Priest hold Dagger of Sotek. The EotG already causes Terror so its Fear won't stack (unless his mount was slain, in which case he's pretty much screwed) and with single attack he won't Killing Blow anybody.

I have been flirting with the idea of starting a lizardmen army and thought of making it an all skink army too. I have to admit, I like plusArgon's list better. I think skirmishing units should be small and it is always better to have 2 units of terradons than 1 big one, it gives you twice the harrassment.

I agree Lemming, what your list needs most is to split some units up. Make those 2x 20 skirmishers into 4x 10 and those 1x 6 terradons into 2x 3 and you're sitting pretty good.
Or you could listen to Plus, that's a nice list with a bit more combat potential and not as many spammed skirmishers. FWIW I'd say go razors if you like them, but sallies are my choice as well.

Thanks for the help I can see how having smaller groups would be more usefull i feel a bit stupid now for puting the DoS on my priest
also do your think an all skink army is as copetitive an army as a "normal" lizerdmen army

As competitive as a normal army? I don't see why it wouldn't be. Stegs are scary, especially the ancient kind. Salamanders will get better if the "no partials with a template" rumor holds true when 8th edition comes out, whenever that is. In the mean time they're a bit lackluster, but fit in your 'All Skink' brigade so you should go with it either way.

Okay, I had to get that out of my system
I agree that an "all skink" army can be as competitive as an army with more saurus. That's really all you're missing- you've got stegadons and salamanders (crewed by skinks of course).
I like the theme and as long as you split up those units (ESPECIALLY the terradons!) you should be good to go
