Hello everyone, I'm new to Dakka, and a newbie to Warhammer 40k, having only been in the hobby for a few months, with very little to show for it, being the overcalculating twit I can be.
I've been painting some Orks I got from my older brother, but I'm not sure if I'll be playing them, because I just can't seem to figure out which army I want, although I think if I can get
to playing that the army I play will be the one I stick with.

I really like painting, and I might give some examples if people want to see them. The armies I'm looking at are, in order of interest, are: SMs, IG, Eldar, and Necrons, and I have the codexes for the first three... If anyone wants to give their oppinions about the armies I like, that'd be great; I think I like the SMs because they were the first models I every saw, and I really liked them, until I read that they were the favored army of newbies, so I didn't feel as certain about them as I was at first.

Well, that's about it, it think.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka
They're the favoured army of newbies because they're the easiest to learn the game with basically. If you really want to play SM, then do it. Don't worry about the n00b label the army has been given.

How is it they live in such harmony - the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know.

Welcome to Dakka!

You shouldn't care what people think about the army you play. Play what you want, whatever the reason is for that.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I know that I should play whatever army I want, it's just I think about it too much. I just need to get some figures that I can paint up and play. Oh well, at least I have the Orks I have to continue on improving my skills.

Orkz iz da best!!

I started many a moon ago with IG then onto SM, some minor dabbling with SoB and militia forces then onto Orkz..

If you've got friends who play the game too then see if they would "loan" you an army for a day or two to get used to the different styles of play.
I'm no good with Eldar but you never know what you could be collecting 12 months form now..

Cease struggling so I can shoot you in the head Heretic
