Hello everyone! I was looking for some help starting a skorne army to learn hordes. Right now I have picked up 2 units and would like to use them but since i have never played a game of hordes i was hoping for some help in starting a small force (350pts or so)

The units I have so far are a unit of Cataphract Cetrati and a unit of Praetorian Ferox. I wrote up a fast list that had Makeda as my Warcaster, The Ferox, the Cetrati, and Ancestral guardian and a Titan Gladiator.

any thoughts? Any and all comments woudl be well appreciated.

Thanks!

You need some more beasts, beyond the Titan Gladiator.

As a rule of thumb you should take at least enough beasts to fuel your warlock with Fury plus a spare beast. Currently you have a Titan generating 3-4 Fury each turn and a Warlock that needs up to 6 Fury each turn.

Makeda will find it difficult to make full use of her abilities in small (350/15) point games. You may want to consider picking up the starter box (Morghoul, Titan Gladiator and 2x Cyclops Savages).

You're playing Mk1 right? Hasn't your group moved onto MkII yet?

Actually my group is right now a warhammer fantasy group and I have been the only one who has started to look into the game of hordes/warmachine. Basically I have the oldest prime rulebook and the 2 boxes and that's all and wanted to expand to something new and different. So you would recommend getting the starter box? Sounds like a good idea. I'll get that. Any thoughts on how to expand after the base box?

Paingiver Beast Handlers are the only must have unit IMO.

I've attached the Beta rules and the latest (Tournament legal) Hordes cards to this post.

Your best bet is to start playing Battlebox on Battlebox games (Proxy with similar sized GW figures to start with if you don't have the models) until you get the hang of the game, then start increasing your game sizes 15, 25, 35, 50. 50 points is a good sized game, most people only play 35-50 point games.

Morghoul -7
Titan Gladiator 8
Cyclops Savage 5
Cyclops Savage 5

= 11 points

You could drop one of the Cyclops for either of your units (at minimum size) and a minimum unit of Beast handlers for 15 point games.

By that time (after a few games) you'll have a better idea of how your army plays, the local meta and which models you like using.
