Well I've seen a few of these posts here, so I thought I might chuck mine up to be commented upon.

House: Escher
Cost: 1000

Leader -- Chainsword, Plasma pistol
Heavy -- Hv Stubber, Auto-pistol
Ganger-- Shotgun, Auto-pistol, Frag grenades
Ganger-- Shotgun, Auto-pistol
Ganger-- Lasgun, Sword
Ganger-- Lasgun, Sword
Ganger-- Auto-pistol, Sword
Juve -- Autopistol
Juve -- Stub-gun
Juve -- Sword

I tried to keep the close-combat element in mind, though now I think about it I'm not sure what use my 5th Ganger will have for a stub-gun instead of a sword. Let me know what you think. The gang originally had 4 gangers and 4 juves, and they all had better equip, but I was advised that 5 gangers is very advisable and more than 3 juves is reckless.

Loos like a solid starting list. No real complaints here. Not sure you need the Frag grenades, but they can't hurt any. I prefer 2 heavies to start, just because they're way too expensive to add later in my experience (I play a shooty Orlock gang though, so that may be a factor).

Yeah, more than 3 Juves is just reckless. I run as few as possible, but I'm crazy.

I thought about the second heavy. Having never played a game though, it was hard to judge usefulness.

What do you mean when you say he'd be too expensive to add later?

EDIT:
So for a Van Saar gang I came up with the following:

Leader -- Meltagun, Plasma pistol
Heavy -- Heavy Plasmagun, Laspistol
Ganger -- Shotgun, (+Boltshot)
Ganger -- Shotgun (+Hotshot)
Ganger -- Autogun
Ganger -- Autogun
Juve -- Bolt pistols
Juve -- Bolt pistols

I wanted a very different feel to the Escher gang, so I went with expensive weapons, and long-range where possible. No backup weapons really, but I figured they could just run away when they fail an ammo roll. Thought about taking 2 heavies but it wasn't possible with this costing. An extra Juve would have been nice just so I don't bottle so early too. But I'll see how it plays. A couple of good shots with the Melta or Heavy Plasma should crispify anything.

What he means is that a standard House gang is seldom going to have 100+ credits to spare for a new Heavy later in life. I always start my House Gangs with two Heavies. The second one may not have a Heavy/Special weapon to start, but he's there for when I get one.

Hmmm...good idea. I didn't think of taking a heavy without a heavy weapon.

Well, I've jumbled things about a bit. Traded the Lasguns for Autoguns, taken another heavy and swapped his autogun/grenades for a flamer/sword, leaving me with this:

House: Escher
Cost: 1000

Leader -- Chainsword, Plasma pistol
Heavy -- Hv Stubber, Auto-pistol
Heavy -- Shotgun, Flamer, Sword
Ganger-- Shotgun, Auto-pistol
Ganger-- Autogun, Sword
Ganger-- Autogun, Sword
Ganger-- Auto-pistol, Sword
Juve -- Sword
Juve -- Stub-gun
Juve -- Sword

I think I'm quite pleased with it. Due to the close-combat element, I think it's worth taking the chance on the lack or reliable guns, and hopefully my second heavy can still be a terror with that flamer. I'm gonna head down the Cross Gaming Club in London tonight to meet some of the folks there. Apparently they have a Necromunda campaign running at the moment. Very exciting.

You've got a good looking list there. Two heavies is nice as are the shotguns. I have mixed opinions about the juves without ranged weapons... I prefer as many guns as I can fit but the swords would probably be more useful. Close combat is pretty fun. What are you thinking of using for models?

I like to take bolt shells or manstoppers whenever I take shotguns, negate that -1 for long range.

Well I rolled vents for one of my territories, so hopefully those Juves can get in there quickly, though if I join the campaign down at the CGC then I think I'll have to re-roll all of them.

Not got any models yet, hoping to find something nice on e-bay but all my irons are still in the fire. I thought about the manstoppers, yeah. Maybe see if I can squeeze an extra few creds from somewhere.

So how did the battle go?

Archibald Jack and I have been running a campaign between ourselves and his others for a little while now I'm playing an Escher gang myself. my 2c for what it's worth...

I'd really ditch the stub gun... it's a woeful weapon in the hands of a juve... considering they have a bs of 2 and the stub gun has no short range bonus and a -1 penalty on long that means even if your juve has a target which is in short range in the complete open... it's still a 5+ to hit... in partial cover you'd need a 6+.. which also means you'd have to make an ammo roll. Juves can't hit the broad side of a barn at the best of times, especially when armed with a stub gun.

Auto pistols are my fav for starting pistols... 2+ for a short, no long range penalty and cheaper the las pistol...

As for the 2 heavy, I start with that as well... and their going alright. (unfortunately 1 suffered an OBD in the first battle and has missed several battles, i'm thinking bout kicking her ass to the curb soon if she doesn't start pulling her weight)... anyway yes I like the 2 heavy idea as well. I armed 1 with a hvy stubber my 2nd heavy with a plasma gun instead.... (not hvy plasma)
4 reasons, 1st, cheaper. 2nd... it's a special weapon so your heavy can still move and shoot. 3rd fire it on full power and it's a hi impact weapon meaning greater chance of taking opponents out of action. 4th on full power it's a sustained fire weapon... a weapon capable of sustained fire that can move and shoot at the same time is really useful. Flamers are great because of the insta hit factor but getting so close at the start of a gang without any stealth or agility skills is quite hard i've found.

anyway, however you go let us know how your gang goes, interested to see how other people play escher.
