Does anyone know why we dont have a UK version of the ard boyz tourney?

Sounds like fun and I would love to play a no holds barred tourney

The British maintain a civility in conflict that other countries don't come close to. During the Falkland war the British invited captured Argentinian officers onto their ship for dinner. Could you imagine American officers inviting captured Afghani insurgents onto their super carrier for dinner? Didn't think so

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake.

Well...do you really want to eat the food on a super carrier opposed to a Tea and Crumpets?

Wait, what was the topic about again?

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

They also blew the FW#@$^ out of the General Belgrano...

I'd be surprised if one isn't set up some point soon (not at Nottingham though, I don't think it'd be somethign GW would be keen to promote here)

I think it'll attract some players, personally not me, i like watching nicely pinted armies too much, and watching two grey mech guard armies on a board would be yuck!

I like watching nicely pinted players better...

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

'Ard Boyz doesn't mean painted armies aren't present.

It just means that scattered among the painted armies are other players too who can't play in RTTs and GTs.

C'mon, be nice.

All of my 'ard boyz armies have been fully painted .. and plenty of others too

GW prob doesnt want to give out more prizes.. they sharply reduced the number of semi final locations, imo, to reduce the amount of prizes they had to pay out

Yeah, most of the armies at finals were fully or at least 65%+ painted. Mine was one of the not fully painted ones... but that was largely from having just added lootas to my list and converting 30 cyborks.

Bleh. Still painting those goobers.

‘Ard Boyz is a GW US Trade Sales promotion, hosted at independent retailers. It’s designed to encourage people to buy and build more stuff at their local store.

It’s also designed as a venue for pure-competition gaming, with no soft scores.

The above reasons don’t make as much sense in the UK, as the UK has far fewer independent stores to promote, and because the regular GW UK GT already is a pure gaming competition, with soft scores irrelevant to the outcome.

Ok guess I will just have to attend the GT then

Pure competition is all im after, I paint and would field a fully painted force but would hate to think I lost out because im not a great painter!
