Without tags images in the gallery are pretty useless, no one can find them. But the tag field is buried among several others when you post an image.

It's nice and prominent when you vote, popping up and demanding attention but it should be just as prominent when you post images.

Might also be a good time to remind people about on-topic, rotating images correctly and not posting blurs.

Also when you post 'closely related' images there's not way to add individual tags to pictures. So if I post IG pictures I can tag them all Imperial guard but I can't easily tag the Leman Russ pictures from the infantry from the chimeras. Can that option be added somehow?

I lean away from forcing people to tag. About 1% of tags are not correct, and incorrect tags are much worse than no tags at all as they pollute otherwise valid search results.

I have been thinking of other ways to encourage correct tagging of images and will be implementing them over the coming months.

On-topic / rotating / blurs are all minor issues but not huge problem, accounting for at most 0.1% of images. If we see a big increase ever, we'll start deleting them (as we do for offtopic images already).

The closely related stuff is just a shortcut (along with some lazy coding behind it). Additional image specific tags should be possible so I'll add that to the todo list.
